but...most of all - by a long long way - seeing Kauto survive.

Really thought he was RIP when he crashed out horribly (and the camera's never showed us him rising to his feet - always a worrying sign)...cried throughout the last half mile of the race and couldn't give a sh 1 t who won - just so pleased to see KS live to fight another day.

Haven't felt so sick during a race since my second ever favourite horse* died in action.....Lanzarote.

I still have the Sporting Life from the day after, and it still chokes me up to think about his death in the Gold Cup even now.





* Fav horse ever can only ever/will only ever be...........



...... the legend that is RED RUM, who won 3 but should have won 4 Nationals (only poor jockeyship stopped him beating Rough Trade in '76, although he was beaten fair and square by L'Escargot the year before).
