We all agreed Rebecca blew Matt out of the water.

But I told them all Matt was winning anyway.

If she'd been able to change her Saturday song, as she did her Sunday one,  I reckon she would have won.

Five

I thought all the song choices were poor.  On Saturday I hadn't heard of matt's or Rebecca's apart from rebecca's duet number and again last night the same.  Why didn't Matt do win of his real showstoppers that he'd done before.  If 'First time Ever' had been done before then why not 'Nights in White Satin' for instance.

Of all the songs there are Matt and Rebecca sing those at the weekend?  I just don't get it.  All i can think with matt is that he can't sing the real hard ones at the moment because of his problems with his throat over the past couple of weeks.

fll - would certainly have been VERY VERY close.  if she'd done sweet dreams on saturday then could have been very different.  thought that performance was OUTSTANDING!!

Agreed lads, Sweet Dreams was supposed to be her first song on Saturday iirc. Think Sq had it as a possible. Would have been a far better song choice.

If she'd had it on Saturday night it might have been neck and neck.

Poor song choice for her on Saturday. TBH on balance over Sat/Sun she was the best imho, but I accept that Matt's throat was fcuked!

I think the timing of her on last on Sunday and Matt first both evenings was also a factor. More voting time for him. Less for her.

As we all guessed she was closing the gap towards the end, but I think she needed another 12 hours and a better Saturday song to put it away.

Worth considering for next year is the final running order. Info regarding the exact order was fairly thin pre show. Fair play to Sq for providing us with all he had available to him.

There's still those small surprises that Cowell can spring to edge it one way or another in a tight race.

I think Cheryl cole has been a very bad mentor for Rebecca and I think if she looks back she will
agree.Cheryl put all her attention the cher and it was obvious for all to see Cher wasnt much good at all.
If Cheryl would have focussed on the real star Rebecca then Rebecca would have won it easy.

look we all backstage r as frustrated as hell;she was the chosen one that sc really wanted for worldwide and behind the scenes is disgusted with cheryls management of her;he ramped her as much as he could in latter stages

lay

But you were saying on every thread not she MIGHT or SHOULD WIN but SHE WILL WIN.  How can you say outrageous statements like that and don't you feel silly now?
Report layprofessional December 13, 2010 3:51 PM GMT
dont feel silly lou believe me didnt lie when i said she is the chosen one and if u listened closely over the series u hear my boss say it alot;he is livid with cheryl that she mismanaged her;danni on her side different result

Well we'll soon know who was Cowell's 'chosen one'.
He's not obliged to pimp any of them round the states etc except the winner.

So let's watch who he throws his weight behind (internationally) from the three runners up.
Proof will be in the pudding.

Having caught glimpses of Matt doing the rounds (probably more than most as Anglia TV seems to have almost adopted him) he is obviously uncomfortable with the whole XF thing - promoting his single, saying stuff about it not being a bad record because it's from XF and although it's a cover, it's not as bad as a lot of covers.  He obviously loathes the whole idea of doing covers.

He'll have to fall into line a bit more if he is doing the rounds with SCowell.

And one wonders how his vocals will hold up over the tour.  They seem to have been adding loads of extra dates resulting in something like a total of 35 over 7 weeks.

Brookstein No2 imo
Report George Bailey December 14, 2010 7:08 PM GMT
Matt is in an impossible position. He needed XF to get the profile to do his own "stuff" but his own "stuff" ain't good enough.  Must admit I have some grudging respect for him as every other winner has done exactly what the puppet master has said to fill their bank accounts.

Two options for Matt:

1. He does the craapy covers and takes the king's shilling but IS brookstein 2.

2. He rejects cowell and does his own stuff which bombs and he is invisible in a year's time.

Either way he is toast. No wonder he looks uncomfortable.
