Thankyou, hes the only man i backed throughout, backed him at abysmal odds in bootcamp, 4.33.. but still.. i knew he'd win he was by far the best singer.
Totally dissagree with the brookstein thing though, he is different gravy!

topgun - fair play for coming on and not hiding away from your losing (monster) tip, but did you really have to reply to yourself with a different username in this thread!!

Fortunately managed to pretty much break even on the winners market, despite being almost exclusively against Matt with my bets for entire series! One D's short price and the value in the Rebecca trade early in the final helped me cover any losses on Matt - still not great for a series' of work though! Did well overall though, because made a fair bit on the eliminations.

Yes i did. Rebecca was a 'taker' for me so not the end of the world if she won but would have lost almost 2 grand if ONE D had so was getting worried i must admit! Obviously Matt winning was a fantastic result for me.

Crikey Lou, your 1d red was bigger than mine. Now we can bask in the knowledge we were right all along
3.0, the craziest price of the series. Clearly the ICM and yougov polls mean nothing to the majority of punters

Yet he didn't win by that far in the end. I think his voice was gone for the last 2 weeks so most tuning in just for the final would have chosen Rebecca over him I think.

Rebecca didn't do enough on Saturday, in fact you could argue she was the poorest of the 4 given her standards
How she stormed back on Sunday shows how right I was to have a massive saver on her and for you to cover your losses. She'd just left herself too much to do. A vivid demonstration of a powerful regional vote again, too
Some people still think it makes no difference

course it makes difference;cos the average public have no idea on vocal talents;ill stick to my guns;rebecca miles better than matt vocally and within 18 months matt will be in oblivion along with joe;shayne and brookstein;BUT WELL DONE TO ALL NATT BACKERS

Yes I backed her about three weeks ago as she was the only one who I thought 'might' do it as ashe's a good singer and certainly very likeable. It turns out it was a waste of over £300 but I'd do the same again next time. When ONE D were dropping so low in the betting though I was getting a bit worried!

And about One D too - I'm a percentage man myself, so sadly got sucked in a little to the final weekend hype, but I can't believe how the betting never reflected the stats and polls that were all widely publicised and in the public domain for all to see. There was supposed to be this mythical teen vote that wasn't reflected in the figures, but the You Gov / ICM poll looked rock solid.
Fortunately off the back of this I readjusted my position to take advantage of the crazy 7/2 Matt-Rebecca SF available yesterday morning (missed the 4s), but it does demonstrate quite vividly that the market is not a good guide for specials betting. It merely follows a lot of hot air and hype...
Based on all of the polls Matt should have been trading around the 1/2 mark (especially having topped the public vote since week two), even with the late Rebecca surge. It's amazing how the voting figures were obviously not leaked that widely. And even more stunning that odds compilers fail to read this forum and follow OTHH!
So much the better for all of us on here - let's keep it that way! [;)]

Dizzy you missed the 4s yesterday morning but do you realise they came back in force yesterday evening? I had loads matched in the 4s in both forecast markets Matt-Reb and Matt-Reb-1D. I exhausted my bank and had to start laying Matt (fortunately he was 1.6s, and I just couldn't lay Rebecca in the 8s and 9s) just to free up funds in order, in effect, to back him elsewhere - in the forecast markets.

That's amazing Henry - smart move... I didn't even track the forecasts in running, stupidly, I was just following the outrights.
Still, can't complain - the outcome was the right one all round, including forecasts, tricasts and quadcasts. As always, though, just didn't have enough on!

GB be interested in your thoughts on the power of the regional vote. You seem to think it is a factor. I agree it can be but you need to know when it does and doesn't apply. My view:
1. Beccy clearly had a Liverpool vote which I think was strong BUT she was linked to Liverpool FC so question impact on Everton (maybe man Utd) fans. Also twitter suggested a strong anti scouse element certainly around the south east/essex so there was the law of diminishing returns re pusing the scouse thing...how annoying were the squeeky voiced vox pop?
2. Despite cowell pushing 1D's localities I can tell you there was NO measurable regional vote for the 5 of them.
3. Mary had a lot of support around Dublin but it diminshed quickly 50 miles away...big city v countryside. Around Belfast lots of antis probably religiously based.
4. Some essex support for Matt certainly.
I think all this regional stuff came from Leon and I suspect a myth has arisen around the Scottish vote there. No "advanced search twitter ()around then to confirm or not.
Certainly the regional vote is worthy of more research.

Thanks aa. I suspect then that advanced twitter would have picked that up. Was it an all of Scotland thing or city/region based...wonder why they bought into him? McManus the same?
