Out last night for a pub crawl, all green on Becks and Matt when I left, just go in to see becks drifted big time and 1D come in. Looked at the youtube clips and cant see why 1D have come in so much, they looked just average with Robbie showing them up on the powerful voice stakes, clearly CA was useless in giving Becks a chance but can't the publis see this?
I am happy to stay green on Becks and Mat and take my chances, just cant see the quality with 1D

I'd hold your nerve. Even on the t'internet they are struggling to catch her for 2nd. The sheer volume of daily mail readers should drag her over the line for 2nd place.

Just hope the tweenies aren't using all their credits in the 24 hours after the show ended.

I think 1D are p1ss poor but they seem to have a sort of momentum.

The last boy band I actually liked was the Flying Pickets though...

aa - it's fremantle not endemol (from another thread)

love the idea of flying pickets as boyband, they were all about 60 and struck me as the kind of men you would never leave with your kids...

but to answer your question aa, i though personally that one d did v well indeed last night. the duet was imo a big vote winner, as robbie bonded well with them; they sang their elton song well, they gave the lions share of the vocals to harry, (the asain and irish kids didnt get a look in) and cowell sold them well in 4 cities. i think they will come 2nd

Now there's an omen - big gamble of the day on the unexposed maiden, but the youngster ran green, showing nothing off the bridle and well beaten in the end - not even placed!

The money has got to be coming in from somewhere...  Sniffs a little bit - particularly the huge drift on Rebecca.

I have mixed feelings about the 1D plunge.  Firstly, the price shortened up quite a bit at the start of yesterdays show.  This is before anyone has sang or the phone lines opened.  What does that say?  For me, it looks like someone deliberately trying to manipulate the market.  That said, the average performances from Matt and Rebecca along with the relentless ramping from Cowell may have given them a real shot at winning this.   I think they could get second place, but I think Matt will win easily now.

why would you be worried?

stick to everything you've learnt over the years.

this band were 44% behind matt in the last yougov poll
or change your book because what someone's posted on DS .

you decide Happy

aa - just getting edgy.  can't understand the price myself.

matt's performance wasn't great, and while i thought rebecca's first performance was v good i don't particularly like the song, and her duet started well until christina came on and it was a bit of a damp squib.  one d actually sang reasonably well, and the mass hysteria plus the ramping is spooking me.  i really thought cowell would stitch them up.

could they pick up enough of the mum vote?!

If anyone feels that edgy, the 7/2 One D-Matt SF at least allows you to level your position a little.

But I'm still reasonably confident that Matt will win - but I added a couple of Matt-One D forecasts at 11/5 late last night to balance out the Rebecca exposure.

this is all part of the game.

mass hysteria...oh dear, seen it all before.
ramping...why?   because they're struggling.
the mums... happy to go toe to toe there.

but why bother ramping?  presumably simon would rather matt/rebecca in the final 2?

the change to the format in opening voting lines has thrown me a bit.  the two big guns on first is a surprise, but quite possibly a big advantage with lines opening early.  too many new parameters this year for comfort.

Cowell hardly went for 1d at all, underwheming I'd have said. He made no effort to push their vote.
He was ramping them much harder in previous weeks.

Don't think they'll win but they might shorten up quite a bit more after they sing Torn.

They did this at the judges house auditions with just an acoustic guitar and no backing and it was pretty good and yet since they've been rubbish and never really improved on that performance.

With a good rendition of this and average from the other 2 it could go close.

good points on the ramping in fairness.  i thought the "they like animals" comment was just bizarre!!

GTL don't know where you see a cowell ramp on the brats? Opposite is the case. Beccy is still the chosen one imo but she blew her chance to catch matt last night. Cowell gave her it and she blew it fair and square.

I've said this elsewhere but beccy having 2 slots before adverts, subiminal "vote rebecca" signs in the crowd (ITV signs not placards), cowell even said after 1D performed that matt and beccy were better Laugh

Polls opening early is a red herring. Won't affect result.

Forget also 5 towns/cities voting for 1D.  Do an advanced twitter search in those places and its dead as a dodo. Who'd vote on that basis anyway?

I could be wrong (and it will be expensive) but I got the distinct impression both LouLou and Cowell knew 1d were beat on the xtra factor. They tend to let their guard down a little on this show, and both seemed inclined to swerve the questions relating to 1d and winning.

That's exactly what I think.  When they did that at the judges house to try and get through to the finals I thought 'hang on a minute these kids have just been thrown together and they're quite good'.  I kept them onside as a 'taker' because of it yet since then the've done nothing as good as that imo.  Eventually about 6 weeks ago I layed them and they've still done nothing since.  they can't win it surely.
