Louis said at today's press conference that he wants Rebecca to win. The stakes are far too high to allow any judge with no singers left to be independent so what that means is Simon wants Rebecca to win. Although actually we have already been told this from everything Simon has said about Rebecca.
There’s been a surge for her since Saturday on most indicators. She’s equal with him in this new poll started since Saturday:

But anyway polls are often undermined by the “who deserves to win factor” – often a handsome young male will be kept in a competition till the end by the female voters, but then a change happens at the end when they think more about the final vote – less who enchants them and more who is the best singer, which according to virtually all musicians who have commented is Rebecca, and maybe more importantly (for those who can at least sing excellently) - who is the nicer person.
Her 3 songs are knockout and Matt has tonsillitis, just yesterday he wasn’t able to sing properly.

So thats who people were refering to as being nobbled, thats got to be a joke. Talentless boy who had no chance against Alexandra, another Lloyd who shouldnt have got as far as the did.
His polling was impressive though, far more than the likes of Lloyd could ever have hoped for, and probably more along the lines of what Leon from the previous year might have been getting from what we were lead to believe.
Whatever anyone's opinion of the lad was, the way his "mentor" treated him in the final was despicable, and imo SCowell was pulling out all the stops to make sure he didn't end up with a similar situation to the year before.

Exactly. That was the context. Of course he didn't deserve to win, but they were desperate not to end up with another Leon on their hands...

thing is dizzy, if he doesn't think he CAN stop cardle, then he won't bother trying. best to make the best of a bad lot and get behind the almost-certain winner.

I think that Cowell has achieved his prime objective anyway - which is getting the final line-up he wanted. Anything else is a bonus now. One Direction will have a career whether they finish 1st or 4th, and possibly Cher too, to a lesser extent.

anyone that is good enough should be able to start a successful career on the back of making it to the last 4 of XF. Alexandra, JLS and Vickers all did well. Whatever happened to Eggy?
Obviously Eoghan was still at school so assume he had to his education to complete, but has been doing the rounds at Butlins and the like, as do a lot of them. Think he is scheduled for Pontins next Spring!!

I think Matt will win. He's the sort of reasonably good looking boring git than always does.
Cowell will want to showboat this year's winner in the American version. He will want a black singer as they have more credibility in the music industry than an average white unshaven limey.
We'll know as the show plays out whether he's going to be turned over, I suspect the market will too. There will either be an in-play flip-flop/carnage or Matt will coast and odds contract.

Not at all from my pov OTHH. People who weren't watching the show at that time were asking who he was and what happened with him.
I'd compare him more to OD regards the likely fanbase but if reports and polls are anywhere near correct, it appears that Eoghan was getting the sort of vote OD could only dream about - and if they haven't been getting the votes up to now . . .

He's pretty much been favourite from day 1. I backed him at 9/2 and think from memory it was just before/after the first live show. He's pretty much shortened in price ever since then.

Matt shortened to about 7/2 after the FTEISYF performance at bootcamp, shown at the end of a programme one weekend iirc. He drifted towards 9/2ish on the day of the first live show.

ah yes that's true GT - i remember getting a decent lay in at around 9/2.
After early audition show, he was around 14/1 / 16/1, 20/1 in one or two places. In the week before FTEISYF was shown (when it was quite likely he had progressed to live shows from the rumours around) he was about 8/1, 10/1 in a couple of places.

someone took rebecca down from 4.8 to 4.2 yesterday in the space of 5 mins..after she's spent 2 days at 5.0-5.2.

I would disagree I think Rebecca should be shorter, these polls could be influenced by punters. Rebecca I feel has a wider fan base appeal in my opinion, she looks it better nick at this stage of the competition, so Im still pretty confident Rebecca will surprise a few.

Anyone greening up is throwing money away, imo. Why would I want to have 1D or Cher running for me. The long-shot is for Bex to turn it around, but Matt remains the value bet.

I just find it very strange he has topped every poll by a distance as we are lead to believe, had the most itune downloads, has been fav from day one. he only has Rebecca to beat you would assume and he is still 5/6 that tells me something.
Its also good for Matt that the pressure is on. Fans will multi-vote.

i'll repeat again, vast majority of high street bets layed on matt will have been at shorter prices - certainly sub 3/1.

This market has not been forum driven unlike most reality shows, the weekly plunges on Waggy for eviction are testament to this. From memory I was about 5% of the big brother market yet despite having a far bigger position Im far less on this market, quite simply put 80%+ of the money on this market is "mug money" whereas on other markets its a far lower figure.

I think the elimination markets were dominated by people backing who they perceived as the worst singer in most cases Waggy but once the forum collective had had their fill of lays ( I had him for 2k weeks 1-5) the mug money because there was so much of it continued to drive the price down.
