Louis said at today's press conference that he wants Rebecca to win. The stakes are far too high to allow any judge with no singers left to be independent so what that means is Simon wants Rebecca to win. Although actually we have already been told this from everything Simon has said about Rebecca.
There’s been a surge for her since Saturday on most indicators. She’s equal with him in this new poll started since Saturday: http://www.metro.co.uk/tv/849797-matt-cardle-set-for-x-factor-win-after-final-sing-off-rumours-scotched Importantly it’s not from a fansite, and it does have a large vote although it’s not stated. I’ve been following it and people are constantly voting on it.
But anyway polls are often undermined by the “who deserves to win factor” – often a handsome young male will be kept in a competition till the end by the female voters, but then a change happens at the end when they think more about the final vote – less who enchants them and more who is the best singer, which according to virtually all musicians who have commented is Rebecca, and maybe more importantly (for those who can at least sing excellently) - who is the nicer person.
Her 3 songs are knockout and Matt has tonsillitis, just yesterday he wasn’t able to sing properly.
Expect Simon to slate Matt and ramp Rebecca, he needs her to be his ambassador, Matt is rebellious and just wants to sing the dirge he writes himself.
So thats who people were refering to as being nobbled, thats got to be a joke. Talentless boy who had no chance against Alexandra, another Lloyd who shouldnt have got as far as the did.

His polling was impressive though, far more than the likes of Lloyd could ever have hoped for, and probably more along the lines of what Leon from the previous year might have been getting from what we were lead to believe.
Whatever anyone's opinion of the lad was, the way his "mentor" treated him in the final was despicable, and imo SCowell was pulling out all the stops to make sure he didn't end up with a similar situation to the year before.

thing is dizzy, if he doesn't think he CAN stop cardle, then he won't bother trying. best to make the best of a bad lot and get behind the almost-certain winner.
that said, if they're releasing all 4 finalists' winners songs then makes less difference this year. and certainly makes winning much less important.

You're probably right GTL - if the polls are accurate and Matt is already that far ahead then there will be a certain fait accompli to proceedings at the weekend.
I think that Cowell has achieved his prime objective anyway - which is getting the final line-up he wanted. Anything else is a bonus now. One Direction will have a career whether they finish 1st or 4th, and possibly Cher too, to a lesser extent.

They may not need to noble cardle if his voice is not up to scratch, anyway I am still of the belief either way Cowell wants Rebecca and will put his influence behind her one way or another. He may have his soldiers ramming the phones lines with votes ( kidding ) to be fair though Matt is decent, but I dont think he is on the same level as Rebecca

if they were going to nobble Cardle, they wouldn't have put him with Rihanna
yep, he'd have been put with robbie, but i still don't think putting him with rihanna is at all ideal. it's not going to win him any new votes as the youngsters will be all over cher/will.i.am and one direction. it may however lose him some of the "middle of the road" vote to rebecca, who has a very audience-pleasing duet lined up with christina (assuming they do "beautiful").
that's just one view though.

God knows why but I actually unblocked the turd and read the usual shiite on this thread.
I did question whether you had been to the hospital, I did question whether you had had the bets you said you had had because I think you are a fantasist with no friends and no life and almost certainly nothing like the funds required for you so called fantasy bets.
You think I am a horrible person, like I give a flying feck?
You have single handedly ruined this forum this year and turned what should be informative discussion into a joke.
If you do have some sort of medical complaint I hope it is nothing to serious but if was something that affected your ability to type then that would be a bonus.
You seem to have 'blocked' 90% of the regular users so why not just feck off and let the rest of us get on with rational discussions. I also know that as of yesterday you hadn't blocked me which does rather back up my opinion that you are a liar and a fantasist and a turd!

Eoghan had something that no other on here had before or since. Balls. He truly believed in himself. He was no Lloyd fake and no Chico comedy act.
I know his singing was limited but he deserves more than Butlins. I hope he finds his niche.
Good line up. Him, the divine Vickers the deserving JLS and the proffesional but boring Burke. Better than Matt the adequate, Rebbecca ramped but as geniuinely popular as cheese, Cher actually the one with the most "X" factor. But more X certicate than Xmas. Or 1D not fit to tie Eogans shoe laces.
I think Cowell assasinated Eoghan becasue Eoghan had too much bottle. Cowells a slime ball.

anyone that is good enough should be able to start a successful career on the back of making it to the last 4 of XF. Alexandra, JLS and Vickers all did well. Whatever happened to Eggy?

Obviously Eoghan was still at school so assume he had to his education to complete, but has been doing the rounds at Butlins and the like, as do a lot of them. Think he is scheduled for Pontins next Spring!!

i wouldn't be too concerned about the tonsilitis this week - Matt was ill last week and still got practically double his nearest rival. he can't not turn up, so as long as he stands there and squeaks, his vote should hold up.
and what's the Eggnog insinuations? that he led a lot of weeks and lost, so Matt will? different kettle of fish as far as I'm concerned. Eggy won early but then was overtaken by about week seven; Matt's extending his lead if anything as the final approaches.
vote transference could be an issue, but I understand that even if Rebecca picks up every Mary vote, she's still behind, and that Matt+OD easily beats Rebecca+Cher+Mary.
All-in-all I would have Matt a 1.4 to 1.5 chance, and despite already being all-in, I'd be re-writing the rules of poker and buying more chips to reraise with if I had the cash!
PS: Don't start slagging off cheese!

Cowell will want to showboat this year's winner in the American version. He will want a black singer as they have more credibility in the music industry than an average white unshaven limey.

We'll know as the show plays out whether he's going to be turned over, I suspect the market will too. There will either be an in-play flip-flop/carnage or Matt will coast and odds contract.

any possibility that matt's vote last week was heavily sympathy-influenced, and for the final people will vote according to performances on the night? we'll see.
have him as my best result now, but that may well change by 7-30 tomorrow night!

Not at all from my pov OTHH. People who weren't watching the show at that time were asking who he was and what happened with him.
I'd compare him more to OD regards the likely fanbase but if reports and polls are anywhere near correct, it appears that Eoghan was getting the sort of vote OD could only dream about - and if they haven't been getting the votes up to now . . .

He's pretty much been favourite from day 1. I backed him at 9/2 and think from memory it was just before/after the first live show. He's pretty much shortened in price ever since then.

Matt shortened to about 7/2 after the FTEISYF performance at bootcamp, shown at the end of a programme one weekend iirc. He drifted towards 9/2ish on the day of the first live show.

Yes that's about right. He must have been 9/2 as that's what I'm on at and my bet says it was the 10th October. So on the 10th october he was definately 9/2.

After early audition show, he was around 14/1 / 16/1, 20/1 in one or two places. In the week before FTEISYF was shown (when it was quite likely he had progressed to live shows from the rumours around) he was about 8/1, 10/1 in a couple of places.

my info is that OD have been "doing a Lloyd", ie hovering around the 10-12% level, unable to make decent gains even when singing last. Cowell has resigned himself to them not winning.
The only surviving act other than Matt to have won a week is..... Cher!
Last paragraph of this article disputes what othh says

I'd agree with othh that Matt should be shorter, but I've not totally given up on Rebecca yet.
I made it 1.5 Matt, Rebecca 4, 1D 11 and Cher 50, in another thread awhile back and I'll stick with that.
I agree with GTL that some of Matt's lead this week will be down to a sympathy vote, as we saw most noteably with Vickers. Also as most of us seem to agree, Rebecca has the plum duet and the potential to create a 'moment' It probably still wouldn't be enough, but you never know.
I'm happy to go into the final with them virtually level green and pile on Matt in-running if Rebecca doesn't impress

someone took rebecca down from 4.8 to 4.2 yesterday in the space of 5 mins..after she's spent 2 days at 5.0-5.2.

I would disagree I think Rebecca should be shorter, these polls could be influenced by punters. Rebecca I feel has a wider fan base appeal in my opinion, she looks it better nick at this stage of the competition, so Im still pretty confident Rebecca will surprise a few.

It's fairly obvious that the vast majority of money in the market doesn't read the forum, let alone post on it.
Thank God for that I say. It means othh can come on here and share such great info with us and we're able to adjust our books accordingly(if we wish to) and therefore hopefully make more of a profit.

think your above post is very concise too, vickers won her only week with a sympathy vote, so they are a huge swing, if becca is on post cardle then I think you've got every chance, tis only money, will be a good coup if it comes off.

Meanwhile, an X Factor insider has told Metro.co.uk that while 27-year-old Matt may be the bookies' favourite to win, he doesn't top the results list every week.

I am sure many have noted this. So I will say it again. Matt price has drifted due to people on at high prices greening up. In fact many will have reinvested their lay money in the other runners. So Matts price is artificially high and the rest are artificially low.
There is nearly twice as much money on Matt as Rebbecca.
I am not really bovvered as I have made all my moves. But market wise I would say a lot of people out there are expecting Matt to win.

Anyone greening up is throwing money away, imo. Why would I want to have 1D or Cher running for me. The long-shot is for Bex to turn it around, but Matt remains the value bet.

not convinced at all by that melv. vast majority of HS bets on matt will be on at under 3/1.
however, i'm not disputing that (based on everything we've heard) his price is too big.

There's a desperation in parts to make the comp seem more competitive than what it is in reality.
The truth is that it's mostly dressing. Mary week 1, Cher's Stay, Grime's Mad World, bex's ramping, 1D ramping, even Waggy ffs! This has been Matt's to lose ever since his bootcamp.

Its also good for Matt that the pressure is on. Fans will multi-vote.
BTW this is exactly what Cowell wants. The more phone calls the more cash for the empire of the mindless.

melv, would that not be countered by people who laid at high prices bailing out? I know several big punters who are sitting on very big greens none of whom have laid off. I think the price is being held up by concerns about his voice, song choices and (imo excessively) high expectations of Rebecca's duet.

This market has not been forum driven unlike most reality shows, the weekly plunges on Waggy for eviction are testament to this. From memory I was about 5% of the big brother market yet despite having a far bigger position Im far less on this market, quite simply put 80%+ of the money on this market is "mug money" whereas on other markets its a far lower figure.

I think the elimination markets were dominated by people backing who they perceived as the worst singer in most cases Waggy but once the forum collective had had their fill of lays ( I had him for 2k weeks 1-5) the mug money because there was so much of it continued to drive the price down. People are now backing who they think has the best voice and as such will win with for them an element of who they think tptb want Matt has 51% as such hes an even money shot in their eyes becca 30 9/4ish and Cher 6% 16/1ish these arent far away the anomally is 1 Direction where you have the Cowell effect the mug punter logic says Simon wants them to win, give their favourable treatment over the series, the reality is Simon wanted them in final no more he knows and we know they will sell singles/albums but will be rubbish live.
