and Cher has 1,146,683 people on her facebook page..but if you read this, it shows that 90 % are not fans of hers at all, more people who joined to say how much they hate her and just write nasty messages calling her a chav etc
I think facebook is a huge indicator of who is the most popular in the eyes of the public.
Matt has more fans that One D and rebecca combined. I think thats a hugely telling stat
Attention seeker (a)You think, means nothing in the context of the result of the show, but you are entitled to an opinion. (b)Facebook, again, totally meaningless in relation to the TRUE vote. You can guess all you want, bring up any stats you want, its not going to make one iota of difference to the result. i wont be posting on this thread gain, nice try.

again i think its very telling.. if you add this info about facebook fans it correlates exactly to all the other polls out there pointing to a matt victory.
facebook comprise a huge cross section of the population, so i wouldnt say its totally meaningless

Actually Bardo's right looking at it again. I was thinking that as an overall indicator it's bad but there are always particular points to learn.
Facebook users are weighted towards youth, and even more so the minority FB users and self selecting group that comprise FB fans. However bearing that in mind it shows that Matt is more popular than 1D in 1D's biggest support group - the young XF fans.

Yes I thought that. Facebook is more a youngsters thing and yet he gets almost double their fans on there so how's he doing elsewhere! Don't like to read too much into it but as I said hardly a bad thing.

some serious misunderstanding of facebook demographics on this forum. i've highlighted this before on another thread.

While you're digging out your info I'll highlight something:
59.52% of UK female and 64.1% of UK male FB users are under 35.
However that is just account numbers, out of those I know the young use it far more than the middle aged or old account holders, and therefore I'm sure the bias is even more skewed in the favour of youth.

less than 25% of uk facebook users are teenagers, just over half of which are female. which presumably is the cross-section of FB that the masses think would be "liking" One Direction.
for what it's worth, i don't think One Direction's fanbase is limited to teenage girls - plenty of women in their 20s as well as mums would be fans. however i'm not sure they would necessarily be bothered to "like" them.
i do agree with the general sentiment though that One D are too short in the betting.
sorry henry - that sounded a bit harsh!less than 25% of uk facebook users are teenagers, just over half of which are female. which presumably is the cross-section of FB that the masses think would be "liking" One Direction.for what it's worth, i don
So you're saying that as much as 24% of FB users are teens, therefore they're way over-represented considering that teens are such a small percentage of the teen + adult population.

The graph at my link show that 41.4% of male users and 37.7% of female users are 25 or younger. However I think that the percentage of FB fans 25 or younger is even much greater.

i was really just trying to dispel this image that people have that only teenagers use facebook, or should i say, that the average facebook user is a teenager.
i'm saying that about 1 in 8 uk facebook users are teenage girls, which according to popular belief is one direction's core market. whether or not that is proportionate to the population is irrelevant - 7 out of 8 uk facebook users are NOT teenage girls.

How did you check the exact percentage of non-fans signed up to Cher's page, Bardo? Did you check through 1,146,683 manually?
Or are you talking shee-ite?
