look he fixes it to suit himselfWHAT AMAZES ME IS THE THICK IDIOTS THAT ACTUALLY BELIEVE VOTING COUNTS

He could definitely have a major influence on the outcome - although he's shrewd enough to follow the polls etc. and will no doubt realise that Rebecca is his biggest chance of massaging the outcome if he wants to ensure that Matt doesn't win.
Running order, song choices, duets, vote transference all likely to play a part this weekend. As has been discussed on other threads, the main worry for Matt backers (myself included) has to be that he is fast becoming a liability with his public outbursts. His failure to play the game according to Cowell's rules may well go against him. I can't see them wanting another Brookstein on their hands. |

rebecca is the chosen one from the start us insiders know and we are laughing all the way to our banks

To maintain any form of credibility for the show it HAS to remain straight PV this weekend.
This series is already riddled with controversy over eliminations involving Mary/Wagner/Katie. And its not like they were dead wood or anything. Out from the finalists, they're the next three top dogs! Indeed Mary & Waggy can lay legitimate claim to being possible finalists were it not for Cowell's divine intervention. I don't think he'd jeopardise the brand completely by mucking with the final. Remember he still has to flog this manure to the Yanks. That said, you can bet your last penny that he'll manipulate proceedings in every way possible for HIS chosen one to win. Just a matter of seeing the wood from the trees and balancing the book accordingly [;)] |

Doubt he'll mess with the PV. (Anyone who actually states he won't with 100% certainty is being a bit silly though)
I agree with the OP that the winners he'd like would be Cher or One Direction. Matt and rebecca give him nothing new (too much like winners of the past) and Matt especially will have a short and local shelf life in Cowell's terms. Basically if one of Matt and rebecca blow the doors off and have unstoppable momentum, he won't oppose it for fear of looking silly. but if he gets a SNIFF of an opportunity for a Cher or 1D win (which would need a grandstand performance of course) then he'll be all over it. |

I can see what he can do regarding running order and special guests but ultimately if one act gets 4 million votes say and the next act gets 3 million what can he do about that? It's the public who will actually pick the winner but yes there can be some manipulation agreed. |

oh dear cher no chance believe me she is last on his list

What Journeyman said (to the power of 10).
...and Cher is exactly who he'd want to win. Okay the ego boost of a !D win ('his' band) would make his sh1t-eating grin that bit wider, but in terms of the wider market, Cher's easily-manipulated, faux-rebellion, wigga attitude is precisely the sort of things the Yanks lap up in their droves. |

cher would be thrown to the wolves by the yanks;r u having a giraffe or do u really believe he wants cher;OH DEAR I FEAR FOR YOUR SANITY

imagine matt's mic suddenly playing up as cowell plays with remote control device in his pocket
![]() Cowell would sell his own grandmother if it meant more acclaim and more £££££ |

By:
Cher's a lost cause and couldn't be fiddled to the final, it's too big a mountain but anyway if she was she'd be hated even more.
I accept he'd rather Rebecca or 1D than Matt. However those who make the assumption he'd rather 1D than Rebecca do you have any music industry knowledge to support that? I'd have thought Rebecca would be a bigger seller and a better ambassador. |

Cher Lloyd stunned as hometown fans snub her free show
The singer, 17, played a free show at the Three Counties Showground near her home town of Malvern, Worcs – but hundreds stayed away devastating the fragile star. The gig was meant to be the highlight of a trip home, during which the rapper visited her former primary school. But forced to endure a long wait in the cold, fans booed until Cheryl Cole introduced her act, saying: “Please welcome my little protege, Cher Lloyd, she’s going to turn her swag on.” The show was in dramatic contrast to scenes in Liverpool on Monday, when fans fought over a place to watch Rebecca Ferguson. And the crush of 4,000 fans who turned up to see One Direction in Wolverhampton last night was so intense 35 people were treated for minor injuries. West Midlands ambulance service said most of the injuries were caused by “the effects of the cold and over-excitement”. It was -7C in the city’s Queen Square. Favourite Matt Cardle, 27, wept at the welcome at his local, The Five bells in the village of Colne Engaine, Essex, where he played an intimate gig before a big show in Colchester last night. |

if Cher made the last 2 the anyone but cher negative vote would be massive
|
|
By:
There's manipulation and then there's downright corruption.
The latter would be required to get Cher to win this weekend's final! Absolutely no chance whatsoever. Ultimately the public will choose the winner (albeit with Cowell exerting his influence) and Cher is way too adrift on all known polls / trends etc. to have a sniff. |

just have to post this to balance up Squares' one-sided version of the 'Cher in Malvern' story.
Squares' story is from the Mirror but this is the corresponding story in the Daily record. The interesting bit is that both papers are part of the mirror group! X Factor finalist Cher Lloyd cheered as she returns to her old school Dec 8 2010 By Rick Fulton CONTROVERSIAL X Factor star Cher Lloyd laughed off her troubles as she was mobbed by hundreds of fans at her old primary school. The 17-year-old, who is at the centre of allegations that the show is **** in her favour, was stunned by the welcome she received. All the remaining acts - Cher, Matt Cardle, Rebecca Ferguson and One Direction - played for fans on homecoming gigs yesterday or the day before ahead of Saturday's final. Cher signed dozens of autographs and posed for photos with fans as she arrived to give a private concert at Somers Park Primary School in Malvern, Worcestershire. Fan Jane Griffiths, 18, who queued for three hours to catch a glimpse of Cher, said: "She looked absolutely gobsmacked. I think she is genuinely surprised by how big a star she is." Ashley Hill, 13, who goes to school with Cher's 14-year-old sister Rose, said: "I got a cuddle and then had my picture taken with her so I was made up." His mum Denise, 45 added: "I got a kiss off her, which was great. We all love her." |
