Firstly I thought it was a very poor show all round with perhaps Rebecca and Mary being the pick of the bunch but not great. Normally by now we'd have had loads of standing ovations from all four judges but last night again not one. A poor standard all round.
I'll try to be as fair and accurate as ever. What's the point of me giving Matt 9/10's just because I've backed him? I may as well be honest as I always try to be. Anyway here goes with marks out of 10:
REBECCA: Her big upbeat song we were promised where once more she walked a few steps to the front and never moved an inch! It was nice to see her do an upbeat number and she sang it well but still no 'wow' moment and it's the final next week. Well done though. 7.5
MARY: A great song choice, this girl just doesn't hit duff notes. She did well again but lost the timing of the track at the end which spoilt it. 7.5
MATT: He was obviously struggling and not well and it showed. Wasn't keen on the song either. He seemed out of breath and not up to his usual standards. The judges seemed to be talking him up and overlooking the fact he wasn't great at all. His worst effort since he's been on the show. 6.5
CHER: Awful song again with the 'rap' rubbish thrown in again. Didn't even sing it that well, was flat in parts and I'm sure the majority wouldn't have liked it whatsoever. Poor. 5.5
ONE D: Never heard of the song and I'm sure again most wouldn't have which doesn't help. The same old same old from these boys wherebye they just stand in a line, get a mic' each and away they go. No choreography it was very average. 6 ---------------------------------------------------
MATT: A beautiful song I wish we could hear him sing it again when he's fit and well. Started shakily but got better. Again not up to his usual standard it's a shame to hear him like that and he must be so frustrated. His worst week by far but what could he do but try his best. 6.5
MARY: The very first note was flat where she didn't know where to pitch it but she soon picked it up. A lovely song though it was a bit 'cabaret'. Broke down at the end so lost it but well done again. 7
CHER: Never ever heard this song again. I think she's ruined herself with all the 'rap' nonsense yet the week she stood and sang a nice song a few weeks ago she stole the show. Most voters surely won't like this sort of song she was poor again. If there's any justice she she goes tonight. 6
REBECCA: She looked lovely as she often does. A bit corny with the 50pc choir she sang it well again without giving us that 'smack between the eyes' moment. Her chance to gain ground but she didn't. Did well again though to be fair. 7.5
ONE D: Again no harmonies they may as well just let one guy sing it. It's like a football crowd at a match - they just all sing the same words, whether it's 5 or 5000. What difference would it have made if the Indian guy did cry off due to his family berevement? They stand in a line, a mic' each and away they go. Not bad but certainly not good. 6.
Summing up I thought Rebeca and Mary did the best of a bad bunch, Matt struggled with his obvious illness and Cher was definately the worst and should go.
agree that matt was pretty average last night, however one poor week amongst a host of fine performances is unlikely to matter much,
his huge fanbase are unlikely to desert him at this stage, and should see him home
apart from Matt & rebecca, the standard of this years contestants is very poor.
Cher reminds me of something from 'the exorcist'.. all that silly rapping is awful and so out of place
