The general consensus on the forum seems to be that there's no sing off this week, and lowest vote goes...

Just out of interest, has this been confirmed anywhere - or are we going from previous years?  If it's the latter, there's never been five in the semi final before, so arguably the sing off could still apply...

I'd be surprised if they didn't keep a sing off just in case to manipulate the final four that they want...

I've been in hospital this week, so I might have missed something in the press.  Would appreciate confirmation either way.

Happy to be proved wrong - but it's impossible to bet on this weekend's elimination until we know for sure.

Louis on Irish radio.

Louis Walsh has already revealed that this weekend, only one person will be eliminated, meaning that four contestants will compete in the final show.

The four judges have lost all their powers and from now on will have no say in who goes and who stays. On Sunday night, the unlucky hopeful who misses out on the chance of singing with a big celebrity guest on the final, will be chosen purely based upon the public votes.

There are usually about 3 weeks before the final where it is down to the public only, but this year's format has allowed the judges to play a part until a much later stage.

I think we're all just about certain that one goes leaving four in the final next week.

Interesting that there was no mention of 'lowest vote goes' by Dermot tonight?

That would be my guess - worth having this option in the bag, just in case!

You could well be right.  Ms Minogue certainly isn't Cher's biggest fan...

If the judges vote Cowell will probably have told them who to vote for.
Its a shame but bye bye Mary.
Would love to see Cher get the boot

Matt and OD being almost the same price for Top 3 is frankly crazy!

Now can everyone finally agree that they make the rules up as they go along - or as it suits...

For my money they were always going to keep the sing off up the sleeve in order to frame the final that they wanted.

Assuming that the majority of forumites were right and Mary had enough bounce to prevent finishing bottom of the public vote, then a sing off was the only way they could get rid of her.

And she was by far the worst remaining contestant (and this coming from someone who can't stand Cher!).

No, it was all about creating the ideal final - and now they've got the four they want.
