Just watched it back and once again I thought it was a poor night all round.  Like 'Beatles' week last week it wasn't great at all until one song lit up the night ........

Here are my thoughts with marks out of 10.  I'll try to be as fair as always:

WAGNER:  I didn't really know the song but singing wise I think by far the best he's done.  I think he comea across as a nice guy and I have warmed to him.  Stll far from good but like I said he's best effort so good luck to him.  5.5

ONE D:  A good song but there was absolutely no harmonising whatsoever.  As before it's like 5 boys off the street, give em' each a mic' and away they go.  Nice lads but very average every week and this was no different.  6

MARY:  Don't know this U2 song at all myself and don't think it's a vote winner as it's a dreary song.  She's a lovely lady and you couldn't not like her.  She can definately sing though as she does well every week.  Far from her best but she seems popular with the chanting crowd.  6

CHER:  I didn't agree with the judges comments at all.  Once again the attitude/rapping isn't for me and I think she spoils herself with it.  I think this was perhaps her worst effort so far and that she's better than that.  Could well be gone tomorrow.  5.5

REBECCA:  A good song choice but she did look nervous.  Once again no 'performance' at all ........ she never moved from the spot.  Shaky at the start she then sang it well enough but it's the same old same old.  Capable of more than that.  6.5

MATT:  Not his best and a slightly shaky start.  Nice to see him move around the stage for a change and interract with the dancers.  You know he's going to sing it well and he's a nice decent bloke, popular with the crowd chanting his name.  Judges went OTT with his remarks I felt but he did enough.  7

KATIE:  For me probably the best she's done.  A catchy song she actually sang it not bad.  Thought her performance came across though a bit like a pi$$ed girl on a hen night charging around.  Quite good.  6.5

WAGNER:  Another good song choice (Addicted to love) and he sang it ok again for him.  He's doing his best and so good luck to him.  5.5

ONE D:  'You are so beautiful' is a lovely song that two of them sang well.  The Indian boy even did ok but along with his other two 'stooges' he's just making up the numbers.  X Factor winners? ............ Not for me.  6.5

MARY:  Give her her due for having a go at moving around and she did ok for a big girl.  A good song but perhaps not ideal for her.  Once again not one of her best (look at last week when she stole the show with 'Something')  but does seem popular with the crowd.  6.5

REBECCA:  She looked lovely I thought and we we were told she was going to move.  She never moved an inch again and it was the two girls either side of her that did.  Flat in the lower register she again sang it quite well though but not great.  A nice girl undoubtably but almost too shy.  7

KATIE:  Not as good as her first song.  She's a real trier but overly dramatic.  I liked the song but she really isn't much of a singer at all.  6

MATT:  Surely you can see the difference?  Great song, sat with his guitar. no gimmics (it's harder to sing sitting down than standing) he belted out a great song that was 'wow' again. Cher even stood up to applaud this guy who is just in a different class from the rest.  A nice lad, he's got everything and I honestly think he's already won this.  8

CHER:  Better than her first song she sang it well without any 'rapping' which suits me fine.  She does come across as very thick though and I don't think overly likeable.  Did well though.  7

Matt a nice lad??...got everything??...ok he can belt out the whiny high notes but other than that he is ordinary,he may well win but cant see much of a career for him.

Maybe but I only want him to win this.  I do think he's a nice decent chap yes I do.

Do you agree with any of my comments.  I've tried to be fair and accurate with my scoring.

To rate Marys second song higher than her first shows the level of your cluelessness.

Matts 2nd Performance was easily the best of the night but I love rock and roll the 2nd best performance of the night?

Honest my harris.

This show is supposed to find a future successful recording artist, everyone knows Rebecca is the only candidate for this but is being completely mismanaged by incompetent people, from her point of view it might be a good thing as a decent manager will pick her up and have a superstar on their hands away from this circus.

You must be pleased Lou - with the second song it looks like Matt's back on form.

With Rebecca going backwards (or at least not progressing at all performance wise), he's looking increasingly likely to be the winner.

It needs a killer semi final performance, but he definitely has it in him...

Fair enough.  I really don't think she's good enough and surely Matt will sell records.  He does well every week and is by far the standout for me and the betting public.  We'll agree to disagree how's that.

Were you happy with Rebecca's performances? .......... not great again IMO.

Yes I think he's beating a poor quality field.  Rebecca going backwards in the betting by a long way is good too.  I really think he's won this bar an accident.

Have to agree - the You Gov poll puts him in virtually an unassailable lead.

I topped up at 2s last week - and after tonight's eliminations he'll be generally odds on.

Rebecca sung great last night, the arrangement for the first song was poor and didnt play to her strengths the second was great,i have spoken again to somebody who knows her and i can tell you that she is not happy with the way she is being managed ,they havnt a clue which is not helping her confidence but like i say,it may be the best for her long term.

I was saying in the week that I felt 2/1 was a terriffic price.  With the others falling away yes he'll maybe be odds on again tonight.  I see he went odds on at some point last night too.  The other thing is I think the two to go is very open and it wouldn't surprise me if anyone went bar Matt.  It could even be One D or Rebecca.  Very open elimination imo.

She was definately flat in her second song though she'll always sing 'well'.  Really needs to up her game I think you'll agree.  I liked the Rolling Stones/Aretha song last night myself she did.
Report Dizzy42 November 28, 2010 10:56 AM GMT
Yes, second song was much better - that suited Rebecca down to the ground.  But she really needs to start performing.  I can't believe she's still rooted to the spot, week in, week out...
Report Dizzy42 November 28, 2010 10:57 AM GMT
The double elimination could really shake up the betting Lou, so it well be worth another top up at odds against on Matt before tonight's show...
Report wedge1 November 28, 2010 10:57 AM GMT
based on last nights show and performances
all should be eliminated bar one it was diatribe
therefore only one fitting to win

I won't have any more!  I'm 'all in' on Matt and have laid the others too so that's well enough for me.  Trying to back Rebecca back to become a 'taker' ( I end up not winning and not losing) but bet not been taken yet. I've laid her at 4.53 so she's a lot bigger now.  Yes the double elimination very open.

if they are after someone who sells records then rebecca is the only credibable winner more because her voice, style could possibly make her a big star in the states which is a much bigger pond than the uk market.i would expect that no matter who wins this long term she will do the best.
