My worry with Matt has been his personality, it’s not enough to be a good singer and I was disappointed when he was stupid enough to bring up his problem with Wagner on Xtra Factor. However it seems he’s seen the light and eaten humble pie. Whether honest or tactical it shows he’s on the ball.

Both these quotes have been mentioned on this forum already today on different threads but I thought they deserved note of their own.

"I've been a little bit outspoken about certain issues and certain people in this competition and I think it's time to shut the hell up. It's no one's fault, you know, and I understand that. I'm not being a bitch, I'm not moaning but it's hard when my guys are going. I lost Aiden and then at the weekend I lost Paije so I got a little bit angry and said things perhaps I shouldn't have said and maybe that I didn't necessarily mean as well. If I offended anyone then I'm genuinely sorry but you get caught up in it."

He’s also shows modesty about last Saturday’s performance. (I think he’s being too hard on himself.)

“I overcooked the vocal in a big way, I forgot about the extra 10% you give it when you are actually doing it live with the adrenaline of being on stage. I pushed it a bit more and it all went a bit Noddy Holder. If I could erase it off YouTube and iTunes, I would."

I've never been worried about any remarks he's made anyway.  As for his song last week yes I think he's being a bit harsh on himself too.  I was saying for days leading up that it was an awful song.  he did hois best with it though and put it over well.  Him saying 'Noddy Holder' is quite true come to think about it but like I said he did nothing wrong at all last week, doing the best he could with a bad song and better than everyone bar Mary on the night IMO.

think this mea culpa was entirely necessary and surprised he allowed himself to get into a position where he needed to atone

Dont think it was much of an apology "I shoundnt have said and maybe that I didnt necessarily mean as well" thats not a proper apology. This was said on his video diary, think he was more concerned about his performance on youtube. Compare his video dairy to Rebecca thats lets you see the difference in some people. Some more concerned about themselves, others more concerned about lossing a friend. More than likely he was instructed to apologize.

I agree Lou that I prefer the Beatles songs that the others got (normally), but I also like Come Together, thought it was a good choice and he did perform better than anyone else.

Similarly Rebecca's choice for Saturday I actually don't like much but I think it's a good one for her to perform.

Grin But the fact he's taking note of public opinion reduces his tosserness.

Fair enough.  I like 99% of beatles songs (who doesn't!) but not that one.  ridiculopus lyrics - just not for me at all.  Thought he put it over as well as could be expected but Mary defiantely better on the night with a fab song imo.

You personally may think they're dated and dross but they've just sold over 2,000,000 on itunes by releasing all their albums again.  Most people have them all and they're still selling in droves!  So you see one or two may not agree with you .............. me included. Sorry wedge.
