still looks up in the air regards how many contestants start on Saturday night though.

ITV confirms 'X Factor' final schedule
Tuesday, November 23 2010, 14:38 GMT

ITV has confirmed that The X Factor final will take place over the weekend of December 11 and 12.

Two two-hour shows will see the show crown its seventh winner, who will follow in the footsteps of previous stars including Leona Lewis, Alexandra Burke and last year's victor Joe McElderry.

The Saturday night show, which will run from 7pm to 9pm, will feature "big surprises" including "performances by some amazing international guest stars". It is unclear how many contestants will remain for the final. Seven singers are currently still in the running.

On Sunday, the final show will run from 7.30pm to 9.30pm. It has been confirmed that when the third place act leaves the competition that night, the top two will perform this year's winners single. The second live programme will also include "more international guest stars".

Prior to the Saturday night show, 2008 runners-up JLS will host their one-hour special This Is JLS , featuring a performance with Kylie Minogue.

Really frustrating they haven't made the format clear. Severely limits the number of eviction markets we have Sad

Thanks Squares...  Deduced from the 'semi final' Glee story that the date had been confirmed, but it's frustrating that we don't know the situation with regard to double eliminations...

All adds to the conspiracy theories that it's just being held back as a tool to get Wagner out before the final.

I would prefer having 4 starting out on Saturday night, rather than 3 on Saturday night and 2 on Sunday night that we had last year.

Would definitely make it interesting - and the vote could be much tighter than normal if there are three on Sunday.

The transference of support from one act to another is not something that's ever needed to be factored in to an X Factor final, but it could really have an influence this year.

If they want One D to win, a 3 way final with Matt and Rebecca sharing the non teen vote and slashing each others throats would be the way.

Would rather spilt the mass appeal vote, rather than rely on the tweens and mad mums tbh....

Could make it closer than anticipated though GB!

I'm not sure Rebecca can move her arm far enough to slash anybody's throat

Doubt it Dizzy. They have mass support, 1d don't...

Anyway, Cowell will be striving too hard getting Rebecca past Matt to worry about them

Yes, it's a double whammy for him.  1D don't need to win to make Sony BMG millions, whereas the 'chosen one' does...

one d are the real enigma it seems. the true brains on the forum, having studied the demographics until they are blue in their face, cannot countenance a victory. is it possible for so many insightful people to get this so wrong?

this is the conundrum i am grappling with - i had them nice green but i have just taken them red, having championed their cause from the off.

i can safely say, if one d win, i will stab myself in my eye with a fork

I've yo-yo'd on them too - big early, pulled back, staked up again.  Just can't decide!

You need to keep them on your side for now - although you're probably right in that their price can't get much shorter!

it simply cant can it? even if they play their joker, a ballad with harry singing, they cant shorten any more unless matt and rebecca go rapidly downhill. surely. have never yo yo'd so much on a bet...

Lol nick. I wise move I'm sure. If they reach the final I think they'll be longer anyway

And if they win I'll stab you in the eye so you don't have to

i have spent so long trying to work out how they will get the 5m votes they need to win, and it's hard to see how. i am going to wait until matt hits 1.5 and then lay off 20 per cent of the profit

These rumours of 4 in the final, the late slots, the huge ramps even by Cowell standards all tell me they aren't gathering the vote he hoped for

As noted before they should have been topping the pile, to be overtaken late on
By:

When: 24 Nov 10 20:23
hmm yeah, but yet they SHOULD have more improvement in them than most by virtue of being new, and also i really think cowell is holding back the real ace, something like you are so beautiful, sung by harry. and niw they have the boost of glee in the semi, jesus, talking myself into backing them againLaugh
By:

Totally agree GB - it's Cowell's comments that give the game away...  They're surely not doing as well as he would like, hence the late slots and so on.

Don't forget that these are the teeny girls that got Olly and Ray to second, and Eoghan to third despite the stitch up Plain

I think the hype behind 1D is bigger than any of those, they have Cowell on their side and it's a pretty weak looking field. Cher going sharpish would do wonders to their chances too.

Having said that the lack of broader appeal is a major worry. Odds probably fair atm? Silly
By:
GeorgeBrush
When: 24 Nov 10 20:50
Olly was mass market appeal for me tbh, straight fight between him and Joe

Eggy far more appealing than 1d I think

And there's more hype about the whole thing this year.....

Cher voters transfer to 1d?

Really?  Think they'll just go out and smoke some banana skins myself

Don't see the crossover from Cher to 1D myself.  Older demographic.
