sorry all, everyone's waiting for the magic moment but it just aint there, she had the pimp slot with candle in the wind and now the beatles and she cant nail either - i am afraid i think there is every chance she wont make the final. seriously no way she can get the votes to challenge matt and the boyband and prob even cher. it's game over, without question, and a big embarrassment for lay professional...

it doesnt really matter. all that counts is that shes there at the business end of the competition..we are in mid season right now, most other faves are giving distinctly average performances anyway

I am upset that I fell for the hype. So I suporting every anti Rebbecca post going. Nobody with any vocal ability could possibly have sang that bad.

I have taken a loss on Rebbecca. She was dreadful tonight. Better than leona??????? You are having a laugh. Plenty of my 10's on matt to lay off if 1D or any other looking threatening but I think the emperors clothes just fell of Rebbecca. She was shown to be the bad singer many of us could always hear.

You know what its her fake made up look that gets people going. In that photo shoot she was made up to look exactly like Billie Holiaday. What is it a fancy dress contest!!!

Yes she was very poor.  I'm sure she'll get her self back in it but really bad tonight.  Vocals all over the place.  Dreary, lifeless performance.

She was carp this week, the song did not suit her at all, but everyone has a bad week, no one wins when they have a stormer and no one wins when they have a mare.

Maybe a bit harsh but she sang flat for a lot of the song.  No oomph in her vocals at all.  Hard song to put across to be fair but poor effort.
Report Denman The Destroyer November 20, 2010 11:28 PM GMT
I hated the song,Cheryl said she let Katie choose her own song,i think she should let Rebecca do the same.

And yet when McCartney does it in concert (just him and a guitar) it's the ultimate singalong that I'm sure you and I have both sang along to in a pub or whatever before ourselves.
Report Denman The Destroyer November 20, 2010 11:32 PM GMT

Report Rugbyleaguer November 20, 2010 11:34 PM GMT
Lou I don't think anyone was good, beatles is a hard week as it proved. But I said she was carp and she was, I am not biased. As you see from my name I bet mainly on rugby and quite heavy and watch games totally honest and with no bias, I take wins and losses on the chin and don't make excuses, blame refs, luck or anything else and that goes for this comp.

Fair enough

I see on another post you didn't think Matt did well.  I honestly thought he did well with an awful song choice. Far from great and down on his usual standard.  He wasn't anywhere near as bad as Rebecca whatever way you look at it surely?
Report Denman The Destroyer November 20, 2010 11:36 PM GMT

I don't think he was off tune at all!  Didn't look great in a vest and jeans but although I wasn't overly impressed because of the song, once I'd seen the rest of the show I thought he came out of it smelling of roses.  hence his price dropping a little bit.

Report stringerbell November 21, 2010 2:17 PM GMT
matt didnt do well at all, he looked so ill at ease having to move, and no idea about how to command the dancers. BUT he was so out of his comfort zone - in the final he will be sitting there with his guitar showing off his vocals. the problem for rebecca is that even when she is doing the thing that should suit her, there is nothing special. we are all waiting for the magic moment with her, and it aint coming. i now seriously doubt she will make the final, think cher or mary could pip her....and i am green on her so this aint my money talking...there just really aint that much there....

Report stringerbell November 21, 2010 2:22 PM GMT
i dunno george, she flattered to deceive even then, she is seemingly on the verge of letting loose and wowing us but never quite gets there. dont get me wrong, she has a great voice, but i think she is becoming v disappointing and she doesnt have a second gear..
Report GeorgeBrush November 21, 2010 2:25 PM GMT
And your opinions on 1D?  [;)]
Report stringerbell November 21, 2010 2:30 PM GMT
well, gb my views have been pretty consistent, i initally backed ad championed one d, but i backed matt and rebecca v early too when i realised they were the best singers. i am big red on all the others. but now i have taken all rebecca profits and put them on matt and one d, so i am now level on rebecca. re one d, they are not going to be the cup of tea of us forumites, but i have long believed that thew powers that be want them to win, and that they had a good upward trajectory - ie, you could see them improving as weeks go by and they get to know each other better. they will be better and do better when they do ballads with harry singing etc etc....i thought one d were appalling yesterday but i havent changed my opinion that they can win in. my belief now is that matt is bat far the likeliest winner with one d the second likeliest and i really think rebecca's chance is totally slipping away. dont think she can surprise us....

what do you think?
Report GeorgeBrush November 21, 2010 2:38 PM GMT
Matt is sadly the safest place to park your cash at the moment. I tend to agree.

They are the final 3. One D have little chance. Rebecca has a big chance

Therein lies the difference and therein
Report stringerbell November 21, 2010 2:53 PM GMT
dunno george, its all about votes, just dont think rebecca has a bigger chance than one d now, and the market agrees with me, we'll see. good luck though fella
Report GeorgeBrush November 21, 2010 5:50 PM GMT
Since when did the market have a clue about these matters? [;)]
Report stringerbell November 21, 2010 9:17 PM GMT
well, gb, we'll see, i am just saying there are a lot of people who believe in one directions chance and if ther were really all these people like lay professional who believe she is nailed on, the weight of money would bring her odds down from 4.3. what i believe is happening is a slow collective realisation that she is ever so slightly underwhelming us and that she is not going to deliver the type of pure knockout moment we all (me included) thought she might a few weeks ago.

i now think there is a v v strong possibility that the third final place will go to mary or even wagner....

it's a two horse race, i am convinced about it....
Report Henry VIII November 22, 2010 1:11 AM GMT
Can't go by the market in a big market like this. Most in it believe that Cowell means it when he says he wants 1D to win.

I wasn't impressed with One D at all at the weekend with it being a poor show all round though.  IMO to speed up a classic singalong like 'All U Need is Love' was just ridiculous.  I don't think they're good at all with just two singers for a start and the others ......... well!

I agree about the Rebecca thing too.  Alright give someone two, three, even four attempts but she's sang 7 songs now and just not had a 'wow' moment at all.  How many more times?

She could certainly win it and certainly make the final 3 but she rerally has to up her game even just to get back in the race.  Matt done nothing wrong and a lot of good at the same time.  I think he'll win it.
Report GymTanLaundry November 22, 2010 2:04 PM GMT
lou - did you say you think matt would win it?

agree that rebecca needs a big week to get back on track.

the two song format will open things up.  no excuses for not putting an up tempo number in this week.  if they give her two ballads then they don't want her to win imo.
Report stringerbell November 22, 2010 3:57 PM GMT
what will be interesting gtl is if she can perform an up tempo track, there is no evidence really that it will suit her. she is about mood, she doesnt really have the moves or the big personality for up tempo. this was my point, she has had things her own way the last few weeks and hasnt shone - i am just not sure she has anything else to show us...

when it comes to the final, say, and matt is sitting there with his guitar singing, and one d are singing the ballads with harry and liam doing the vocals - what is rebecca going to do to show us her best. we've had it, and it is ever so slightly underwhelming....

i think she honestly honestly will struggle to make the final, and if she does get there its third at best...

i agree.  Not sure she'll make the final let alone win it.  Had 7 attemps now and showm us dreary boring ballads in every week bar the first.

When she said whilst being interviewed "I was out of my comfort zone having to walk to the front of the stage" hahaha

they were taking the 'p' out of her on The Xtra Factor about it even.
Report stringerbell November 22, 2010 4:06 PM GMT
hi lou, i'm a bit uncomfortable about you agreeing with me so much, what am i doing wrong?

thing is, if rebecca had the potential to suddenly loosen up and show a few moves, that would be the story arc needed to boost her vote and give her a big chance, but what chance is there of that.
Report squares November 22, 2010 4:06 PM GMT
There is plenty of evidence out there that Rebecca can perform an up tempo track as she has quite a background in dance music, reminds me a little of Roisin Murphy's vocals.  Obv would never happen on staid old XF but think she could do a mean version of Sing It Back.

Stick with me you won't go far wrong as my record proves every year.

She could suddenly move about a bit which would help her cause but a good singer wouldn't completely fcuk a song up like she did last saturday.  Do you ever remember Leona, Rhydian, Alexandra, Joe singing bum notes?  No me neither.
Report stringerbell November 22, 2010 4:21 PM GMT
ok, she sounds great on that track, undoubtedly, though it is studio and god knows how many effects it has enhancing it, but we cant see her moving, and in order to properly connect (forgive the split infinitive) with the voters she would have to do more than stand there like a lemon. i dont know that there is enough personality there....but, she did sound good on it, i'm surprised cheryl hasnt tried a few different things..

let's be frank matt looked ridiculous on saturday, he had no idea how to command those dancers and that funny little hunch of the shoulders he did made him look really gormless, but we know his preferred mode will wow judges and voters alike, and to a lesser extent same with one d; when harry sings ballads they will win vote after vote. but rebecca's usp is the moody sow track and to me the signs are that her at her best isnt going to be good enough....

just my view, been wrong lots of times before....

Yes I think Matt looked a bit awkward but at least he tried!  He moved around and did ok without looking too bad.  She's just like a statue and her singing's far from great.

No I never took week 5 off.  She did well with it don't get me wrong but I don't think she's really socked us between the eyes with one song yet. She hasn't been the act of the night once yet whereas mary has twice for instance.  I try to score them every week as fairly as I can.  I gave her 5.5 this week which thinking about it I think I should have made a 5.  She was poor.  the highest mark I've given her so far is 7.5 and that was on one aoccasion the others being 6.5 or 7.  I don't think that's good enough sorry.  Just my opinion.
