Anything at around 1.50 seems like it's a very good bet here.  Last year the breakdown was 500k vs 450k in favour of killing in the name.  I can't believe there is likely to be as strong a campaign for "bird is the word" this year. Firstly the novelty value of beating x factor won't be there, it's a very annoying song (which won't help, although some people are liklely to disagree) and the X Factor this year is much stronger at the front end than last year and has generated a lot more interest.  There may also be alternative campaigns that could hinder the stronger "Bird is the Word" campaign.  All in all, at the current prices I'd say you've probably got yourself a very good bet.

Do you think it's likely Cowell will admit defeat against the campaigns to stop X factor being number 1, and also not give the winning contestant the opportunity for the coveted position?

or can Cowell get a number 1 tv show on x-mas day and boxing day, and make the cash himself and fck the winner
nothing is sure so there is risk with x-factor number 1 x-mas market

it was reported today on the news that a x-factor tv advert is £200,000 for a 30 second slot, the winners record sales are not the money earner its the tv show

Isn't Take That going to be a major challenger for this?

Not the free money it was in some years?

I'd have thought 1.5 was value. Last year's RATM campaign had a freshness and momentum that I'd be surprised if it was to be repeated (good luck though!). Why would it be a non runner mach?

Sorry missed that. Is that confirmed or just a theory? Can't see Cowell throwing in the towel publicly like that.

Ah postulation. 1.5 a steal I'd say...hang on though isn't there a take that single.  I'll hang on to my cash for now.

Article in the Daily Mail yesterday insinuated that the final would be the weekend before Christmas this year (i.e. 18th / 19th December), which would mean NOT going for the Christmas Number One.  By my reckoning the Christmas Number One is announced the same day on Sunday 19th, with Christmas Day the following Saturday.

If this is correct, then it could make sense that we're two double eliminations short to keep the final to three acts (for a 11/ 12th December final weekend).

All very confusing.  Does anyone have the inside track on this?

Are you sure Dizzy? I've just had a look through Daily Mail XF 15/11 articles, couldn't find anything.

It was this comment:

Producers need to stage a double elimination soon if they are to end up with three contestants in the finale show before Christmas - her axeing would conveniently take away such a need.

By my reckoning we still need two double eliminations to even out the numbers - therefore suggesting that the finals are the weekend before Christmas, rather than two weeks.

Perhaps I'm reading way too much into this!

This article seems to completely contradict that theory, however, so maybe I'm just talking utter b*ll*cks!!!

Thanks Dizzy. I think the "Producers need to stage a double elimination soon" is correct, but doesn't negate a 12/12 finish.

Also the "her axeing would conveniently take away such a need" shows that the journo is ignorant or inventive if he thinks her axeing is likely.

True - it was another non-story of course, so take it with a pinch of salt.
