SIMON cowel is becoming obnoxious once again. He used to be despised in the early years, then he started to clean up his act, now he has once again become obnoxious, and public enemy.

How could he save KATIE over AIDEN. AIDEN is not the greatest singer in the world, but he was by far better and more interesting, and the more progressive out of the two.

Everyone gasped in shock at the result, even the girl herself,  it wasnt a conicedence, its cause AIDEN was definitely the better of the two.

I hope SIMON gets a backlash for the public and people start turning on him , instead of bowing and ass kissing him all the time. He needs to be sorted out

Matt's not happy

Matt Cardle has criticised Simon Cowell for choosing to save Katie Waissel over Aiden Grimshaw on The X Factor.

On Sunday's results show, Cowell and Cheryl Cole chose to save Waissel, while Louis Walsh and Dannii Minogue opted to send her home. Waissel was ultimately saved by the public vote after the decision went to deadlock.

Cardle has now accused Cowell of keeping Waissel in the competition simply because she generates more publicity for the show than Grimshaw, who Cardle described as "a much better singer".

"In terms of the television show, Aiden was expendable," Cardle told the Daily Mail.

"I was shocked when Simon sent him home, but then Katie is better for the show than Aiden is. She gets the coverage, she gets the show attention. He just isn't like that but he is a much better singer.

"When it went to Katie and Aiden in the bottom two, I didn't think he would go. Even when it went to deadlock, I thought he would stay. It is like losing a brother."

Cowell previously defended his decision to save Waissel, insisting that his admiration for the 24-year-old has increased throughout the competition.

Everyone knows on here my sense of fair play and the fact I like to see the better singers progress.  I think it's shocking how Simon could vote Katie of the two.  I think she's been poor every week and whilst Aiden was far from great and not good enough to win it he's surely the better of the two.  Same for Treyc (in fact moreso as I thought she had a very good voice) how can Katie be deemed the better of the two.  It's a real shame IMO.

YOU don't think it is.  I DO see it as a singing competition.  Hope that's ok with you.

How many times has one of the judges said " it's not a singing competition"? If you see it that way you're at cross purposes with the judges and are bound to feel "cheated".
Report Mikeeey November 16, 2010 12:21 PM GMT
It was a great result.  Grimshaw was awful.

Why so aggressive Lou? I'm just trying to tell you the truth of the situation. I have never heard one of the judges say it's a singing competion, but I have heard them say it's not.

You're highlighting one instance though.  Are you calling me a liar then when i tell you i have heard it said many many times "It's a singing competition"

There's a clue in the fact they come on every week and SING!  They don't juggle, tell a joke, read a poem, do a Foxtrot, an impression, paint, or keepy up with a football.  They SING!

Phew this is hard work.
Report artie November 16, 2010 1:24 PM GMT
No, they perform. It's a likeability competition. As S.Cowell said "I'm going for the one who I think the viewers would like to see again next week".In fact the whole pop music business is about likeability.Musical talent has very little to do with it.To put it bluntly,It's all a load of sh*t.

Report Mikeeey November 16, 2010 1:28 PM GMT
If you listen to Cowell enough times, you will see that he constantly contradicts himself.  He is in the business of selling lots of records and making lots of money in the process.  The ‘artists’ are no more than figureheads for investment.  He doesn’t really care whether they have talent or not.  He often says he is looking for a pop-star and for someone that will sell a lot of records which is quite different to looking for a good singer.

This is what I like about this show is that THEY try and give the illusion that’s it’s some sort of talent competition.

two things

1) by keeping the awful KATIE, the phones are gonna go through the roof  on the voting front = $$$$$$ for the show

2)Simon probably bonking Cheryl slapper on Friday nights & Sat evenings. Cause could see a patter forming with the judges voting and comments

It's not a singing competition or a popularity contest.

It's quite simply what will make Mr Cowell the most money in the long run in HIS OPINION.

Now if you can understand the mind of Mr Cowell there is plenty of money to be made.

But if your simply gonna put your money down on who you think should win for whatever reason YOU think, be prepared to come unstuck.

No point complaining about it, cos that's the nature of the beast.

Report Dizzy42 November 16, 2010 11:30 PM GMT
Lou - surely you must agree that Katie was better than Aiden in the sing-off last week though?  Judged purely on the singing...?  Regardless of the respective merits of each.

I actually quite liked Aiden's quirkiness - although I thought he was too leftfield to win.

And I'm not speaking out of my pocket I was a heavy backer to see Katie out last week - I was convinced she'd be consigned to history if it went to deadlock.

C'est la vie.  I still think Katie will be gone this weekend or next, but she's served her purpose by then; more column inches for XF, more controversy and more tickets sold for the tour.

No honestly I didn't.  I think Aiden just can't hit the high notes every time and it sounds terrible but I think Katie isn't a good singer at all and been about 5/10 every week at most.  Neither that good in the sing off but Aiden for me and taking the whole series into account Aiden walks over.  Very unfair to see him go IMO.

Are you saying that it wasn't fair that Aiden went out on public vote?
Report LOU MACARIS TARTAN B November 17, 2010 12:08 PM GMT
No of course not he was obviously bottom 2 so although I personally wouldn't have had him in the bottom 2 in the first place the public did.  I do however can't understand how Simon picked Katie over him in the vote off.

Lou - this is rather ironic while on the other thread about Rebecca you were constantly going on about whether or not she danced, yet it's a 'singing contest' according to you?!

Anyway Aiden sang awfully many times so I don't see what the big deal is with losing him - certainly there wasn't much between them on singing merit, and she obviously gave one of her best performances in the singoff too!

One of the most uncontentious decisions of the series, even the audience weren't all that stunned when Cowell saved her.

I disagree.  Don't think Aiden would have won but surely he was better than the awful Katie.  The crowd and press afterwards showed it's the biggest shock so far along with the Treyc fiasco.  Katie better than TreyC ? Yer righto!
Report stu November 17, 2010 1:04 PM GMT
It was a shock he was bottom of the vote yes - but that's got little to do with whether he was a better singer than her as he would probably get plenty votes that had nothing to do with his singing.

Yes i appreciate that.  I was shocked myself then to see him go and IMO Katie should have gone before him and treyC

Report LOU MACARIS TARTAN B November 17, 2010 10:56 PM GMT
I thought TreyC was very good and Aiden had 'something'  Katie been very poor from the start and I'd have had her out after about three or four weeks myself.  Awful.
