Two horse race - Rebecca is the one they're starting to ramp up and it could end up being close, BUT... I think Matt could prove to be the XF rarity this year: an early favourite that actually obliges.
Changed my mind (again). Caught up with the thread about Matt's previous life - and I think that this could be the crucial factor to swing in Rebecca's favour.

How come he's the favourite then? Bit of a bold statement that isn't it? I agree he MAY WELL NOT win, in fact he's got about a 63% chance as we speak of not winning but he must be in with as good a chance as any surely?

Lou, I personally think Matt has a better voice than Rebecca, but what middle aged blokes think and like won't affect the vote. The main voting group women will be voting not just for a good voice but also more shallow reasons not do do with the Music.
Matt comes across as a decent bloke I think but one of the shallow reasons for voting is good looks, he does not have that Im afraid, although not ugly, he won't win many female fans votes on looks alone. The group of women he will appeal to most are middle aged women who vote only once and not 10 times like teenager will.
Rebecca has come across very humble and normal so far and has not put a foot wrong in the media yet. I think she will get many votes for the reasons to follow, rightly or wrongly.
Alot of single mums will vote for her, feeling she is just like them.
A lot of working class people from all over the UK will vote for her, as they see her as "one of them" and down to earth etc etc.
A lot of young teenage women will vote her on the basis that they could be her one day on the x factor.

You're having a laugh if you think women are not attracted to Matt.
Middle aged women are matt, they vote once, that is the problem, when you have young women who won't be attracted to him in the masses voting 10 times. One Direction actually have more chance than Matt on the voting patterns and they can't even sing. Sad or what !
Middle aged women will be the biggest influence on the result. The teenagers' effect is always overblown and they won't be multivoting for Rebecca in any case.
Well I have about 10 nieces and they vote litteraly 20 times each, no exaggeration, they say their friends do similar, again only a small scale example but I imagine it goes on across the UK and so far they have been voting Rebecca en masse. I will suprised if she does not win in all honest.
Lloyd must have pulled the vast majority of the teeny vote last year, polling centred around 10%.

I think you've put a decent arguememnt across which is fine and you may well be right of course. My initial response was to your post below. That's a bit of a bold statement isn't it? Like I said he very well may not win but he's in with a great shout surely?

Again I agree. the youngsters did probably multi vote him, he was very good looking, sweet, nice lad but ultimately finished what 6th? the great British public will eventually sort out tye deadwood (Wagner and katies's days surely numbered) and leave us with the stronger singers.

imo this is approx where 1d will be, just a matter of timing the play with them.

What do you mean you have them finishing about 5th/6th? That's where I'd put them myself. Matt, Aiden, Rebecca, Cher and maybe Paije/Mary all above them.

I suspect that there is a good chance 1d will make a surprise appearance in b2 at some point. They are likely to be saved tho.
Funnily enough Cider last week when there was the "Who's your tip for the bottom 2" thread mine were Wagner and katie for obvious reasons. I also remarked my outside bet were ONE D. Great minds? (wink)
So far, I've simply backed them 'not' to make the final 3, which is still a reasonable price.
Yes I've tried to get on Cowell 1st eliminated but can't get on. Only a little token bet but not taken. Don't fancy them at all. Thought they looked quite good at Cowell's house but they've had what 6 attempts now? and done nothing IMO. I initially kept them onside but finally laid them at 5.6 after last Saturday's dismal showing. Hope I'm right.
Until recently I would have voted 1D, but I've re-evaluated and now am pretty confident its
