Prefer Leona by a country mile.
Let's see Rebecca have a go at a bit of singing and dancing like Leona did. It wasn't natural to Leona but at least she tried to show a different side. Rebecca's like a singing statue devoid of any stage presence. |
By:
She sang one of my all time worse records (teardrops) and I enjoyed listening to the song for a change, definitely has something special.

If you had Nina Simone or Sade on the show you wouldn't insist they did some break dancing to show a little versatility. Who cares whether Rebecca dances? If you want to see someone dance go and watch Flawless. I agree btw, Leona would probably win a gold medal at the singing olympics, but so what? Rebecca's voice is far more interesting and appealling to me.

By:
i agree with the OP completely.
however in fairness to leona, summertime was something special. her other performances were technically good but pretty bland. |
By:
Nowhere near Leona IMO' miles and miles behind Alexandra and Rhydian walks over.
By:
all down to taste i guess....

most funniest and ridiculous thread ever

I can't believe I am reading this! Rebecca better than Leonna? In what universe?
By:
...Rebecca is far better than Alex though
By:
Rebecca > Alexandra > Leona > Boyle
By:
Leona 9
Alexandra 9 Rhydian 9.5 Rebecca 7 Teeny weeny difference there? |
By:
Just your opinion Lou.
fwiw I'd put Rydian 2nd or jt 2nd in my list. |
By:
Vickers would obviously be above them all :)
By:
Just a question of personal taste - I'd be happy enough if I never had to hear Leona, Alexandra, Rhydian, Susan Boyle, Celine Droneon, Mariah Scarey, etc. ever again.
I'd like to hear more of Rebecca atm but might feel differently after a year. Being signed to SCowell usually knocks all the individuality and what was originally interesting out of an artist anyway, turning them bland and generic. |

Figgy
We know we disagree about Vickers so we'll leave it at that. Of course them scores are just my opinion but I really can't for the life of me see how she's in the class of them three. I'm not even sure Matt is. |
By:
Leona, Rebecca and Alexandra are all totally different so difficult to compare.
Leona is a power ballad singer who struggled with dance tunes. Alexandra is great with the dance tunes but not as strong in ballads. Rebecca is a quirky singer with great tone and subtlety which the other two lack. They all have their strengths and weaknesses and it is all down to taste but personally in order of who I would like to listen to them Rebecca Alexandra Leona. |
By:
rebecca is slightly more niche than leona and some of the other winners but rest assured the judges will ramp her to victory, they ain't going to let this oppurtunity go. Matt is a couple of years out of date very coldplayish. rebecca is current and relevant. she'll sell millions worldwide.

anbody else noticed the likeness between her voice and macy grays?

Well Said Pete Watermelon.Rebecca is the best singer ever to grace the show.Far better than most professional singers around the far better than the clone Leona. Also Rebecca has her own unique style that is absolutley her own.Rebecca also improves ever
week she is on the show. |

Interesting point made earlier about "dancing" and "Leona's dancing" (Shrew D)
If you care to trace back, Leona's dancing was AWFUL and I do mean AWFUL. It took quite a few weeks before she moved from one spot and whe she finally did it was embarrassing to say the least. It is personal preferance. Like I said before,to me Leona is just a Mariah clone. I don't necessarily want to hear big screechy notes when I listen to a track. If I want that then I'll stick on Whitney or someone. Picking up on what someone else said, why do they have to be able to sing, dance etc etc? If you look at the charts now and even back 20 years a lot of the so called great artists don't have the best vocals. Some of the most successful artists of all time couldn't even dance full stop - take ABBA for example. Couldn't dance to save their lives. Ashley_Young that's an absolute spot on comment mate. They'd be crazy not to let this one go. I also think she could do well in the US. I miss artists like Nina Simone, Sade even though Nina was a bit before my time. Keep all that boy band rubbish and the elevator music trash. It's nice to get some old school back. |

fortunately the happy mondays had the LOT: shaun's voice and bez's dancing.
you're twisting my peter watermelon man!! |

If you care to trace back, Leona's dancing was AWFUL and I do mean AWFUL. It took quite a few weeks before she moved from one spot -------------- What the hell are you talking about? She moved around the stage on her first song (I'll Be There), First Cut Is The Deepest (2nd song) and Summertime (her 3rd song). She also wasn't in 'one spot' for Chiquitita in her 4th song. She's got way more stage prescence than Rebecca. If you're going to try and argue, try and present the facts and not some utter shiite made up to support your argument. She ain't a dancer. Never will be and never has to be. |

I can see where Lena Meyer got her dance routines from now
![]() She's definitely not a natural mover |

What puzzles me is this.
Previous contestants have been slated for not dancing. She would make a statue look jittery. Previous contestants have suffered for leaving behind young children. This doesn't seem to have happened yet. To me, these two things seem to be almost inevitable. Plus her voice is good rather than excellent. |

Does this not alert you to something FH?
By:
FH - Why would Cowell pick holes in someone he wants to give a record contract to?
By:
Different show, format, etc., but the judges had no problem in putting Kym Marsh (who had two young children) in Hear'Say.
By:
Simon Cowell loves to pick holes in any performance and often contradicts himself many times a show doing so. Dance routine commenting being a subject his opinion changes on hourly!
By:
Yep, that and the 'its about being the most entertaining' oh no...'it's about being the best singer' oh no...'it's about being the most entertaining....' etc............
Makes up the criteria as he goes along on a whim, and will simply favour who he wants. |
