i'm plus 3k on matt, one direction and rebecca, give or take the odd hundred quid, and minus 5.5k on the others. my dilemma is - do i have to get cher onside?
Report stringerbell October 31, 2010 10:49 PM GMT
sorry george you already told me..missed it....
Report GeorgeBrush October 31, 2010 10:49 PM GMT
nope.

But Mary and Aiden? Shocked
Report stringerbell October 31, 2010 10:51 PM GMT
mary wont win it, absolutely sure of that. and although i personally like aidan more than any of the finalists - i think he is probably a bit too odd to win. good luck though...
Report GeorgeBrush October 31, 2010 10:52 PM GMT
I wouldn't be comfy with that nick tbh

Only Rebecca has momentum from your backs
Report George Bailey October 31, 2010 10:52 PM GMT
Mary no chance imo.  If Irish weren't allowed to vote like usual she'd be a massive lay.
Report GeorgeBrush October 31, 2010 10:53 PM GMT
This is why we get good prices on her chaps
Report stringerbell October 31, 2010 10:56 PM GMT
hey thank god we all have differing opinions as it would be boring as hell if we didnt. re momentum though, i hear you george, and cher is the obviously the momentum pick, but there is a long long way to go and i think when it comes down to it, there are only 4 possible winners. bloody cher...
Report five leaves left October 31, 2010 10:58 PM GMT
Yep, very odd that someone who was top 2 for the 1st 3 weeks has no chance.
fwiw I'm letting my heart rule my head again and just keep backing Rebecca. One of my biggest red a week or so back is now my biggest green.
I also keep laying 1D as I'm not sure even Cowell can get these numpties to win. They're medium red from big green.
Report GeorgeBrush October 31, 2010 10:58 PM GMT
Good stuff nick

I wouldn't back cher with yours old chum, so don't worry about that one
Report George Bailey October 31, 2010 10:59 PM GMT
I wouldn't be topping up on Cher at these prices nickf...hold your nerve.
Report Helmuthian Folds October 31, 2010 10:59 PM GMT
Cher this week reminds me of Aiden the 1st week when he hit around the 5.1 mark based on one performance.

Total over reaction in the market for me and I would not touch her at that price at all.
Report GeorgeBrush October 31, 2010 10:59 PM GMT
I would. But it's not to back [;)]
Report George Bailey October 31, 2010 11:02 PM GMT
I'm with you fll. Was red then watched all her performances together on youtube and was smitten.

With my head I am a bit worried that she isn't pulling up trees in the polls but she has so much left in the locker I won't worry too much at this stage.
Report stringerbell October 31, 2010 11:02 PM GMT
yeah, thanks chaps, that corroborates my thinking. fll, only say mary has no chance because i simply dont see enough versatility to keep her momentum up for another 7 weeks. i would love her to get to the final as i have 900 quid at 5s, which i regret now, on cheryl to be first judge out. put that bet on as mary bandwagon gathered pace - thought worst case i could lay it off at 2ish when there were 4 or 5 left. not looking good now
Report Helmuthian Folds October 31, 2010 11:02 PM GMT
Yes I back to lay though GB but if I was a layer I would be hoovering up 6.6 right now. Silly

haha - so you do the old 'hide the forum name from the missus' too then.... Laugh
Report One footed pony November 1, 2010 4:46 PM GMT
The thing with Cher, like Cheryl says, is that she's got to prove she can sing. If she raps too much she'll be out on her ear, which makes her a big risk, because that's what she loves to do.
Report layprofessional November 1, 2010 5:26 PM GMT
seanvice its all bout opinions but if u think rebeccas voice isnt good enough u need ur ears syringing
Report shrewdbury November 1, 2010 5:28 PM GMT

Report stringerbell November 1, 2010 5:31 PM GMT
well of course shewdbury, you dont think my real name is nick f uckface do you. or john layprofessional. or derek fiveleavesleft. george bailey is perhaps the only chap on here who looks like he uses his real name, and maybe that's because he's a fine upstanding individual with nothing to hide.

my real name is alan chalfont-dingleberry
Report shrewdbury November 1, 2010 5:32 PM GMT
You have a different definition of note perfect to mine layproff, think if you look back at previous week's comments you'll see it mentioned plenty times that she's been off
Report five leaves left November 1, 2010 5:44 PM GMT
She's hit plenty of bum notes, but the last 30 seconds of saturdayys performance is as good as anything you'll ever hear on one of these shows.
Report Henry VIII November 1, 2010 5:54 PM GMT
She doesn't hit bum notes. She sometimes almost speaks a word rather than belt it, but it's in key, it's a jazzy style that a lot of the old greats have.

I guess the point is what will people think who don't analyse it? I think they'll just think she sounds great.
Report GeorgeBrush November 1, 2010 5:58 PM GMT
That would be my one concern.  The jazz style voice. Does that type of voice win, or does the falsetto carry it off?

I'm with you that Cowell will be on her though
Report five leaves left November 1, 2010 6:41 PM GMT
He can't resist the bum either.
Report stringerbell November 1, 2010 6:47 PM GMT

Interesting scouse fact:

The accents of the people in all major UK cities is a harsher version of the surrounding areas. Except Liverpool, whose accent is unrelated to the surrounding areas.

Don't know why, maybe something to do with the Irish mix.

My Rebecca adoration peak was before most peoples, I’m now getting irritated by the fact she keeps her eyes closed for half the song. She should have cracked that by now. Matt has.

It’s something she may not now crack during XF as she’s getting so much positive feedback.

I still very much want her price to continue dropping.

I still believes she's Cowell preferred candidate and if she's within striking distant of Matt in the vote he'll push for a Rebecca win in the final.

Her singing is the best the x factor has ever had.All she needs to do is  move around a bit
and we will se her as the new fav.Rebecca is the one to give the X factor life for
many many years. Then all the music purist will see that real stars can come from this show.
If Matt wins the show will go down hill.He just waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa ahhaaaaaaaaaaaa's all the time
and Matt is like RATM to Cowell.Simon trusts first impressions of people and Matt spooks Cowell.
Like I say Rebecca if she can lose a bit of shyness move around the stage and step it up
with renewed confidence for 1 show she will storm this so easy.X factor really does need a Rebecca victory and nothing less.

FACTOR star Rebecca Ferguson has said her voice is already in demand with stars like Amy Winehouse queuing up to work with her.

The singer from Liverpool revealed she had heard rumours that the Back To Black singer wanted to pen a song for her.

The 24-year-old explained she'd also received a letter from Chasing Pavements singer Adele Adkins.

Mum-of-two Rebecca said: "Adele actually wrote me a letter. It was such a surprise and I felt very privileged.

"I'm a big fan of her music and it's a good feeling to have such a talented person say they like my voice."

The X Factor contestant added: "Paloma Faith has said she would be interested in working with me. I also heard a rumour that Amy Winehouse would like to write a song for me.

"They are both such amazing artists, I feel really flattered."

The young star even has Kylie rooting for her, despite the fact her sister Dannii is mentoring the boys category this year.

The Australian pop star said: "Obviously I'm Team Minogue, but I have to say, Rebecca really stands out this year as one of my favourites."

And Rebecca was singled out for praise from ****cat Doll Nicole Scherzinger following her performance of Poison on Sunday night's show.

The former guest judge said: "I've always believed in her. Her voice is just timeless."
