seious thread honestly.the way i look at teenagers nowadays is this.i think when they hit the 13ish  mark they grow out of boybands and are more likely to be into bands like paramore,my chemical romance and r and b acts like usher along with some rap and metal bands.

i genuinely think that the market who will go for the boyband are not big enough to carry them to victory.i think thats why jls have been a hit because they have the r and b vibe going on and they are quite a lot older which is a lot more attractive to the 13+ market.

mums decide who win. You are right re jls being older and therefore different demographic voting for them.

I reckon they can clean up on females up to the age of 40 tbh

Having said that, by the final there could be strong competition for that demographic

my thoughts exactly 10 or 11....12 at max once they hit 13 they get a bit rebellious.

According to youtube the demographic is:

Female     13-17
Female     18-24
Male     45-54

54 is somewhat flattering, no?

He lied about his age on his youtube account.  He now puts down what age he thinks he looks following his various face jobs.

I think there will be plenty of older women that still like to think they're teenagers voting for them

I'm not a big fan of the DS polls, but I couldn't help noticing how badly 1D are doing

George Sampson was doing what was 'in vogue' at the time.

Wand erection are about 10 years out of date.

They will be 'in vogue' if Simon tells the voters to think that.

Most of the voting demographic will be split between Cardle (majority) and Rebecca (minority) to care for One D.

that sounds a bit pervy to me.....turn that on its head and think of 20 somethings men voting for a group of 16 and 17 year olds........ugggggh

yep but it's okay for girls.  they're not necessarily voting for them because they're hoping for a ride, they'd vote for them because "ahhh they're so sweet, look at that harry, he's so cute", etc, etc.

plus the mums will love them.

How does anyone seriously deny that the slightly older women (i.e. the mums) will be voting for the young lads in this band - they could have been called 'the mums vote' Laugh

just can't get this mum vote lark at all.if anyones gonna get the mum vote it's matt.if mums voted for boy bands the charts would be crawling with them....they're not.the music industry has changed massively in the last 10 years and there is very little interest in boy bands.......i'd like to know what age you class as the slightly older woman ?

can't believe any woman would look at a boy band and say they're cute rather than look at some other act and say he's sexy.......if it was a bunch of kittens singing i could get the cute thing but not the boyband.

GTL is correct. If they win the mums, they likely win XF

Of course there's serious competition for this demographic

I've been laying them (although they may get some more weeks of hype). They're just not that good, and they suffer from the problems competition created groups get ie lack of identification, rubbish songs because the weakest member has to cope with them, and their weakest member is pretty weak. In fact only 2 or 3 of them get decent solos.

Also very young lads manufactured into a group don't have the romance and sympathy of a struggling single mum or of a struggling guitar player (or even a struggling chav).

The teen fan base is huge. Nearly bought JLS victory. This year its will be the group to win, and I don't mean Bellamy. Its time for a new type of XFactor winner. Big advantage being coached by Simon too.

Not really - voting on TV shows and buying music are not the same thing.
