I'm struggling to think of someone who was getting most hits on youtube in the early or even the later weeks, going onto win one of these shows.

Joes hits were strong throughout

From week 7 he was miles ahead

ok A1, I'll take your word for that, but I bet he wasn't leading in the more hyped acts in the 1st few weeks.

I've only watched 2 XF and 2 AI's and Vickers was spanking everyone on youtube hits in the 1st one. Lambert the same in AI. I'm not sure there was a clear leader last year on XF? ..and in AI, the likes of Crystal, Siobhan and Andrew were way ahead of the winner Lee.

I just don't think they're a very good guide, because the youtube audience is very different to the audience of saturday night light entertainment shows.

Im sure it is a different audience Fll, but I  would have thought it would have favoured 1 Direction rather than Matt...

The fact that Matt is getting more than 3 times the hits should be a little disturbing for 1D backers imo

Not sure about A1.
He's very contemporary and appeals to those who like Coldplay and Keane who I'm sure have a massive number of hits.

It's not just kids on youtube. There are plenty of over 30's. A large proportion of those are men, who don't vote in these shows.

..and the more 'trendy' teens and 20 somethings who don't vote either.

That's the interesting group to me, as I believe they pick the winner. Mary is also popular with that group. 1D can to win them over with a cheesy ballad or two and some cheesy grins, as can your guy A1, if, as you say in the other thread he does some more popular songs. Will Cowell let him though?

Not sure about that female age group - not a tad to old to be the biggest voting demographic?

Worth remembering that last year the voting percentages singers got were all over the place for the first 6 shows, people changing their favourite weekly.

Joe's percentage was never top in the first 6 shows, then from show 7 (6 acts left) he was always in the lead.

Diana Vickers smashed the youtube hits and facebook stats, was never in contention to win, was 2.2 on here after Week 4 though.

If you listen to a hit a multiple times on Youtube does that count as 1 hit or the multiple times you've listened?

Youtube hits like twitter (mostly) is the way to ruin imo. Viewing demographics on youtube is new to me but could be very useful.

But Matt isn't quirky like Vickers, he isn't extreme like Lambert and he isn't big headed like Danyl. His boring quiet cardiganess has got staying power. I do not think he will slip up with any song. He keeps taking on the hard one's and impressing everytime. Funnily enough I was not over impressed this week I think he can do better. I also do not think he will have a bad week.


I suspect leona was miles ahead on hits everyweek. Another quiet one. BTW IMO she isn't that good a singer. I wouldn't pay to watch her.

Mind you Simon's ramp machine is awesome. Ie irresisitable to the dumb down millions happy for Simon to see for them, to fanatasise for them, to think for them, hear for them and to live their lives for them.

On the other hand Simon never loses and will back the obvious winner.

Cowell has already sussed there is no usa crossover act here and is looking to cash in on downloads each week.  Early signs are that Joe Mc ain't going to be no cash cow.

Danyl was getting the most hits at this point last year - and look what happened to him!

Likewise Jamie Afro - even Olly was more popular than Joe on You Tube until well past the half way stage...

Matt's the first truly nice all round singer to lead this early!

All the others were either too fame hungry and bitchy to the other contestants or had the Scotland/Ireland vote behind them to start off with!  It never lasts!!!

Matt deserves his place at the front and deserves to stay ahead of the rest!  He may wear a silly hat (not for long) but he sings faultlessly and just you wait until he sings a killer song!  those odds will tumble!

Yes I think that.  Don't think he's quite hit a real good performance yet and I haven't fancied his first two songs much. He's done well enough and I can see why he's the favourite but if he gets a real gooden I think he'll knock em' dead.  He may not win it but I do think he's the one to beat and the pick of the bunch for me.

I am on Gamu and matt @ 11. Frankly I am not expecting win. Not watching the programme just posting out of interest. I think it will be the boy band. But I missed the prices.

We are supposed to be waiting for a killer song for Matt. He's already had a killer song "You Know I'm No Good", so good it's what got him first noticed in the auditions. However he used half the dynamic range Amy Winehouse uses and vastly poorer enunciation.

The level of conforming on here is insane at times bud, it's not healthy either. You need to move away from groupthink and not post patronising comments (as I just have) when you disagree with something. The more contrasting comments and the more debate, the bigger picture we will all have which can only help us when placing bets.

Thanks for your honesty.  I know what you mean about the prices ..... two of them at 11/4 meaning between them they're about 4/5.  I do think though that 6/1 would be a bit high.  I think there's only about 4 left that could actually win this so even allowing one more from the rest I'd make Matt about 4/1 if I'm honest and the best of the 4/1 shots at that.  All in I'd make him about 7/2. I think 1 Directions price is very low and people are purely backing on 'Simon wants a group', 'Simon wants to win it this year' 'the little girls are all gonna love them' etc.  I think that's very shaky ground.  Talent wise I'd have them lower than halfway of the acts left.
