Good pick - bail out in the final 2 of the series IMO
I do not believe anyone saw that coming well done all those with high prices. She does not have to do it every week. The light and shade, the naff the Ok and the amazing is the big thing about Cher for me. One more like that on the final night and she wins. |

Answer is no. The value has now gone.
She can't win anyways, will not be popular enough with the mass public. Don't get me wrong, I think she's superb. There's no act I look forward to more. Cher and Rebecca are the two most interesting in the whole show for me. You can't be backing Cher at these levels, the horse has bolted. |

you never checked my original thread i tipped at15.5. she will be favorite in the next ttwo weeks [;)]

i never liked cher but this changed my mind.
times 2 million. |

By:
I think she can win. She'd smash the likes of Mary and even Becca if she sang Stay again in the final.
By:
My guess is she annihilated them all last night. An hour is a very long time in X factor.
By:
You had to have got on before she sung last night.
What happens now? Back to 'urban' this will all be forgotten in a couple of weeks. |
By:
nah cider they aint stupid, they'll cleverly mix the urban with the ballads. she's got to have a chance, but can she beat the big three. i sincerely hope not
By:
Don't have a clue why there seems to be this view that Cher's value has all now gone. Or why people are referring to a 'big three' without her.
Cher is the standout performer in the show by a long way. She should be favourite to win the whole thing. I took 14s last week. I'm astonished that she is still backable at 7 after that performance last night. It shows that a lot of people on here are refusing to wake up, smell the coffee, and admit they judged this girl's potential badly wrong. |
By:
It's called a market Joe. The price doesn't go from 14 to 3 in a straight line mate. There are other runners with other prices. You could of taken 14.0 until your head caved in. It's now 7.0
To be fair, if you're on, 7.0 is a fair old move from 14.0 She's had good comments every week. I've been marvelling about her with a girl from work from day one,it's all we talk about, but you have to understand the mass vote, not what you perceive as the best talent on display. If it was on pure talent then it would be Becca,Cher and Matt in the final now, but there's more to it. I think One Direction are an absolute joke, but they'll probably make the final 3. I think Matt is a puff at 7/4, not for me. So, the coffee smell is actually quite strong today. That's a decent move for Cher backers. 6.8 is a massive short term lay, it'll all be forgotton about in a few days and the price will drift. |
By:
Simple really.
Cher has play her hand. Getting on after this is akin to backing a horse at sp. |
By:
Exactly Cider. [smiley:crazy]
It's like backing a horse for the Stewards Cup at 6/1 when it's been 20-1 the previous night. Too knee jerk for me too, 14.0 to 7.0 on someone that's done absolutely nothing wrong in terms of performances. The tears and emotion have moved the price the same way that phone votes get generated. It's called sales and the public fall for it and so do some of the punters. No secret and an obvious thing for me. I never played 14.0 on the basis that she can't win due to the mass of the public. |
By:
Maybe Cher has played her hand (because I can't see how it could get much better) but even if that's the case her hand is a royal flush.
For her still to be 4th fav now tells me the value has not gone, because Simon was right when he said that was the best performance of the series. I honestly believe Cher is a genuine 2/1 shot right now. I understand the appeal of each of the three acts above her in the market but I don't think any of them have earned the right to a shorter price than Cher. So why is she still 6/1? Sometimes markets underreact to events which have just taken place because it involves a major shift of position. I see it a lot in the NFL in-running when game changing turnovers occur. It is very difficult psychologically to back something at a low price when you know you just had the opportunity to take much bigger odds. Maybe I'm wrong. I'm not a Special Bets specialist. We'll see. |
By:
have to say that last night was pure class, she has showed that she isn't a one trick pony, i'm confused why (unlike in marys case) rebecca hasn't come under more pressure to do something different than just standing in one spot and moving her left hand about, however much a wonderful singer she is.......what needs to happen with cher now , is for the powers that be to just shake that bit of negativity that remains around her a little i think left over from the whole gamugate situation.....i want to see them do different things and last night i was won over by her.
By:
idiots that waste money backing her on the basis of one song
she is possibly the most revilled in the comp cant for the life of me see where the vote would come from to sweep her to victory my grandson cries at the picture of her and screams when she craps but hey he does the same when tweedy mimes |
By:
her presence in the latter stages is doubtful imo
but if she makes it that's bad news for one direction one direction v cher v matt for example = matt walkover |
By:
It's a fair discussion regular joe. We do have to analyze prices at what is available, not what has lapsed.
If you feel that she is a 2-1 shot, then you should bet. For me it's hard to believe that this won't be the peak of her momentum, for now at least. |
By:
aa - isn't a two runner final not 3?
By:
Cher is not a 2/1 shot. Though she did smash them all last night I should imagine.
By:
She has the most likes on facebook by quite a substantial margin.

What has really struck me about this year's XFactor is the way that virtually everyone I have spoken to loves Matt and can't stand Cher, I've honestly never known such consistent responses. Even my hairdresser who is chatting to people all day every day about X Factor says she is yet to meet anyone who likes Cher. I thought she was fantastic this weekend even if it wasn't a hugely challenging song, so maybe she will start to win people over, but she does have a very long way to go, and this is a particularly strong field this year.
By:
I have her as a big green but just layed some off. I don't think she has cross over popularity needed to win this. Predicting last night was the way to win on Cher.
By:
I think Cher's syle of music is exactly the sort of thing Cowell would say is "relevant". I have noticed Cowell has signed Labrinth to his Syco label, which is the first act he's signed that hasn't come from one of his talent shows for a while. Tinchy Stryder, who works with Labrinth, has been bigging up Cher. Cowell has been supporting Cher from the start - at one point claiming she was genius and last saturday stating that her performance was the perfomance of the series. I can see them pushing for Cher to bbe there until the end. I don't particularly like her but I now think she'll be a real contender to win this.
