And how are these ratings added?  Only by people that download?

Are you taking into account the fact she had two songs to download?

i think you can rate with a itunes account without purchase but not sure,chart is to be kept unpublished

the songs were listed apart so ratings are for first song only, and in xfactor there is allways the bounce factor after being the bottom 2/3

is this not more an indictation of how much people enjoyed saturday's performances, as opposed to how likely they are to vote for them this week and subsequently?

of course there is a relation between the two, but they are ultimately two different things.

Always biased toward the younger, more pop acts. Stacey was usually top on youtube last year iirc

Understates Mary's and 1D's vote by a distance I would think.  Most interesting for me is the difference between the ratings of the two early jollies

DS polls(Final 14 - Who is your favourite act?)  have katie above 6 other contenders,i would rather go by polls than who i may like, you can never win on specials backing good taste.

They automatically love anyone the rest of the more normal population hates

it's an interesting thing the bounce after being in bottom 2.

you would normally expect something.  but i think this tends to go for the more talented, likeable but quieter acts - like rachel last year.  not sure how katie, who clearly lacks likeability, would fit in with this trend.

on top of this, it's very likely to be a bottom 3 this week, so she'd need to get into the top 11 of the vote.  given that it's likely that she came 15th out of 16 from a decent draw this week, this could be a challenge.

There are two stats which can be gleaned from iTunes and they need to be considered together.  The first, as above, is the number of ratings for each contestant.  The second is the average value of those ratings ie their score between 1 and 5 where 1 is bad and 5 is good.

Aiden, Matt and Cher have the highest number of ratings.  However, when I checked yesterday evening, Aiden and Matt also had an average rating of 5 while Cher had an average rating of only 3.5.

Mary was the only other contestent with an average rating of 5.  Katie had the lowest average rating of any contestant at 2.5 ie a lot of people were motivated to log to to iTunes in order to say that she was carp.
