It's always been manipulated but it's now more contrived than ever. Ever more concerned about being in the newspapers than nurturing talent.

I've been a huge x factor fan since the first series and its my fav thing to bet on - but even i agree this year is woeful.

I hate the whole sing off thing - its all personal with the judges. Louis doesn't like simon so he kicks fyd off - even tho he said he didn't like katie yesterday.

The wild cards ruined it too.

And i hate the emphasis on "trying to be different". it's painful to watch. Go John thats what i say! He would be a victory for normal nice people!!

It's not personal, it's panto. The might not be reading from an autocue but it's every bit as heavily controlled by the producers as an episode of Corrie. Hope that helps...

Fallon,s whistle - good point. Mary should be on BGT too. Mary is not a pop star, shed' be good for BGT tho. Anyone like her they should take aside at the auditions and give her a free pass into BGT live stages. It ruins X Factor having Mary on it. If she wins it's a disaster for the show.

Why did scowell go out of his way to get her on then?

Because Cowell does make mistakes. He doesn't expect her to win. Just like he didn't expect Jedward to win. He likes having variety to keep his show fresh. But he doesn't want her to win. And now it seems possible.

I don't buy this idea that her winning makes Simon cry

mary can't win imo....she can survive for the first few weeks because the votes are distributed among so many......so her "lets give the fat old bird a chance supporters" can see her through......when the field dwindles and acts that may well have people torn two ways are kicked out...the support for the leaders will be concentrated more....whereas her supporters are already in place and the chances are she won't pick up enough as other acts fall away.
