They may not make the final.

If they do they are going to be in double digits given the popularity of Matt and Rebecca.

I would say we'll be looking at double digits after next weekend.

tbh I agree this is going the wrong way. I think after the show finishes though we might see that they actually topped the vote for the first 2/3 weeks.

Really don't think they are great whatsoever.  Wouldn't be at all surprised if they only last another 3/4 weeks.

In my opinion all these type of programmes ie X Factor,the Andrew Lloyd Webber stuff,etc are all edited to attempt to make the voting public choose "the chosen one" therefore the skill is working out who it is.
IMO the poster nearest the truth is Nikki...Cowell chooses all 16 acts,some intentionally useless to make the others look better.
His only concern is who will make him the most money....and I feel the most marketable out of all the acts is this boyband.Personally I think they are useless,however the way previous shows introduced all the members individually,(the part where the asian lad throws a paddy about being unable to dance springs to mind) and the throw away comments like "you guys were not good enough individually to get in the solo catorgeries" is all designed to make them more likeable.
I agree that they will be a slow burner with a few power ballads sang bt the 2 strongest singers in the later shows.

I think the big push has started.Harry had been held back until tonight ....according to my wife and daughter,he is the "cute one" and I wouldn't be surprised to see him feature in every performance from here on in.Personally I still think they are useless,but I still think they are the most likely winners.

As for survation, i agree young grls are not really survations highest % of responders but young girls are also not really the demographic that decide these type of shows.

For me 1direction are one of the worst prices I have ever seen on a specials market

they do say on one of their emails that they are not capturing certain groups in these polls, i would imagine the under 18 group is one of them,
although it is still useful information

I've also noticed that the link to their poll is posted in the Matt appreciation thread on DS. So it possibly overstates his vote.

Problem is One D's main demographic is going to be the Under 18s. My little sister and her friends spend a 5er a week on voting these guys, she says every girl in her school votes for them. I suspect most schools up and down this country follow suit. IF they were to be pimped in the final with Take That, I'd be amazed if they didn't win. Harry and Robbie side to side, and it won't only be the Under 18s voting in their masses.

They've been very very average every week for me and bar the little girlie vote shouldn't still be in it IMO.

You are somebody who's opinion initially dictates their book and then their book takes over their opinion though. You have convinced yourself who you like and dislike and refuse to change your mind whatever happens. I have no personal favourites but these lads are my biggest green. They have had their fair share of shockers (who hasn't this series?) but they also have had a couple of good ones. They also clearly should still be there, as there has been far far worse every week.

agreed they are terrible but its amazing what tecgnology can do to make them sound good;westlife are best examples of that see them live and they were shocking

I think they're actually getting better, better harmonies every week, but none of them are strong individually, still a mile from Matt and Rebecca and I can't see them ever appealing to the average voter.

I'm really not trying to deliberately go with my book.  I'm happy that I've backed Matt of course and justifiably so but IMO I would have rated One D no better than about halfway in the whole initial field.  For instance IMO John, TreyC, Aiden and Paije were all better than them for a start.

I thought they were p1ss poor on Saturday, their version of Chasing Cars sounding like a bad joke straight after Amazing Grace.

Yet their core support held up enough to keep them safe above Cher and also the highly ramped Mary.

So they are obviously contenders.

I don't think they're particularly poor just not good whatsoever.  5 nice young kids, a couple who sing quite well the others making up the numbers.  No harmonies, dance routines that other boy/girl bands have.  I just think they're very very average and forgetting Matt surely Rebecca's far better.

Bar the pro voting of the young teenage girls I think they'd have been out weeks ago.  You can't discount the young girls voting though obviously of of which there will be many but when they count them up they get more than Matt?  I don't think so myself but we'll see.

As a neutral observer of the top 3 [;)] it's interesting seeing the Rebecca and Matt backers are telling each other it's a 2 horse race etc.
One Direction are saying all the right things, smiling at the right times. They are unburdened by talent but that might not stop them.

While Rebecca is playing the 'game' well (playing it safe, taking no risks, acting servile etc) she isn't playing it as well as 1D.
Her constant backbiting and whining in the press could be her undoing in the battle to be the most inoffensive candidate.

One Direction have mastered the art of papering over their innate crapness with positive energy and they don't deserve to be considered a sideshow to a 2 horse race.

Considering the rampers and colluders are calling it a 2 horse race, they're are an insanely short price. Maybe the said posters are bu**sh**** again (a1, fll, GB etc).
