It IS a singing competition.  I will let you know after the first week's show when I've had my bet.  I want to hear them properly and see also if the likes of Gamu and Trayc perhaps join the runners and riders.  I've already laid one heavy who I don't think will win (hopefully)

It only becomes a singing contest when they grt down to the last 4 or 5 and Cowell will have made sure anyone that sings better than his chosen act will be gone by then.

Don't want to say yet as I'll be having my bet at the weekend.  Still think ultimately the best/2nd best singer will win it as did Leona/Alexandra/Rhydian (should have won by a million miles, luckily I laid him off at something like 1.14 so got away with it but Leon very average) and last year Joe brilliant every week.

like HF says, i don't see it as a singing contest till the business end.  but like you say, the winner will generally be one of the better singers.

have a 14/1 ticket about rebecca which is nice, but i'd think the boyband will be given every single chance to do well - they appear to be the obvious chosen ones.

however on here, i'm trying to lay a good chunk on all of them as i wouldn't be shocked if all 4 wildcards became proper contestants.

That may have been true in years gone by, but certainly not last year.  Olly Murs is proof of that.  A boy with no singing ability whatsoever still managed to come second.  As Cowell repeatedly says, it's about finding a pop star and someone that can sell records.  It's obviously a bonus if they can also sing.  But the way the show gets manipulated by Cowell, someone with a mediocre singing voice can probably win if they look the part and do what they're told.

I agree with Mikeey about Olly Murs.  Thought he was very very average and of the 12 finalists would have rated him about 9th personally.  Got to the final though so had something I suppose but not for me.  Thank god Joe won!

You are missing the whole point, Joe was Cowells chosen one all along, the only one who could actually out sing him (Lucie) was duly stitched up and dispatched and then Joe has a nice clear run to the winning line proven by the fact Olly did come 2nd. 

One week Olly came bottom of the vote below Jedward if I remember correctly.

And anyone who is going to try and say Danyl could out sing him don't even bother!

There were about 6 better than Lucie in the competition.  Just because you say she was the best, better even than Joe doesn't mean to say she was.  IMO Joe and Danyl were the best singers in it.  One won it, the other was 4th after getting a terrible press and didn't come across too well.  Lucie just average.  Now go away and back who you think is popular no matter what, meanwhile I'll pick the best singer and win ..........again.

best singers are rebecca, matt and john, but i have a feeling the boyband, who can all sing well, will win.

jamie affro - the BIGGEST fraud i've EVER seen in reality tv.  possibly the best bet i've ever had was laying him sub 6.0 - genuine free money!

i think eoghan reached the final and finished 3rd - hence was the 3rd best singer in the competition.  the lad did well.

I'm honest though.  I think from memory I backed Rhydian at something like 5/1 so please don't be ridiculous and say 50/1.

George if you remember I was clearly telling all Alexandra from the start and clearly telling all Joe from the start who I backed at about 10-1, 11-1.  These are facts George and you know it.  I would have personally said Danyl was just the better of the two but didn't come across well.  I didn't use the forum before that but HONESTLY backed Leona and Rhydian.  Didn't watch it at all before that.  I will again let you know who I've backed after the show on Saturday which I will watch on Sunday afternoon.

Why would I want to carry on 'chatting' to someone like that.  We all enjoy the show and have our punt hoping our act will win or back one with a view to selling at a lower price.  Why can't it be civila nd people respect someone else's opinion just because it differs from theirs?

I really just don't understand it and will 'talk' to the other hundreds on here who will be reasonable rather than people deliberately going out to upset me that's all.  Feel free to do the same and we'll leave it at that if you want.

OK, where do we start.....

Lou, I backed Joe after the first show and did very nicely off the last series.  I didn't say Lucie was better than Joe but singing wise I thought she was his only competition and IMO Cowell stitiched her up with a bad image change, bad songs and then let her go instead of his media wh0res jedward (who I think are great btw).

My initial post wasn't about me saying how hard done by Lucie is but about how Cowell manipulates us and the contestants to get the winner he wants.

Now go away and back who you think is popular no matter what, meanwhile I'll pick the best singer and win ..........again.

I do think Rikki was better than Lucie yes.  Thought he should have gone further.

I personally think Jedward were the worst act I've seen in wht is my 5th year of X Factor.  Absolutely awful.

Jedward were a great act who couldn't sing where as Rikki was a carp act who couldn't sing.

He was the only Scottish person in as well and still couldn't muster a vote which says it all.

His eyebrows were impressive though.

lou - out of interest, if i were to say i thought jedward were better singers than joe, would your opinion of my opinion a) go up, b) go down, or c) remain civilly unaltered?

B ..... Becuase whilst we all have opinions that is surely ridiculous.  One could argue who were the better team of say Chelsea, Man Utd, Arsenal, Spurs even perhaps but don't say Leyton Orient reserves.  I'm sure you see my point.
