Assuming you are an England fan, are you relieved England went out quietly in the group stage, very disappointing but competitive in each match and not ever massively outplayed, or would you have preferred a run in the tournament to the semis even if it then ended in a humiliating 7-1 defeat with the eyes of the world firmly on it?

On this occasion I'm quite please we skulked away quietly without being fully shamed.

i agree
better to go out early and quietly
this defeat will haunt
brazilian football for a long time
and they may
never recover

on the bright side brazil were only one game away from qualifying for the final whereas england were 2 games away from qualifying from the group.

there is absolutely no
bright side
to what happened to brazil the other day
none

ok agreed there was no bright side for brazil as they expected to win the trophy.

so what was the bright side for england finishing bottom of one of the easiest ever world cup groups.

no bright side to that
either
but at least it was
no humilation
Report ExtremeX July 10, 2014 6:52 PM BST
humiliation

With the team we currently have, I'll have an order of the skulking, please.

Doubt we could have impressed our way to the semis; it would probably have been a case of weaselling our way into them in a fashion so tedious as to make an actual weasel vomit.

Next time we have a good team (2018 - why not?), I wouldn't mind us putting on a couple of performances and then getting dicked on by a six-goal margin. I think. I reckon it would be better than going out at the group stages again.

This thread is why England don't ever win anything. Losers mentality. Concerned about the manner in which you lose as opposed to ever contemplate winning anything. The mentality transfers to the athletes. Over before it starts with the English.

somehow the british public
are always convinced that
england will be
team to beat
at the NEXT world cupLaugh

Two good points made above. The main problems with England are that:

1. We always think we're going to lose.
2. We always think we're going to win.

No chance we will ever have this dilemma.

Since the formation of the Premier League ,the national team has headed on a downward spiral.
Many of the players look like workmen being forced to do poorly paid overtime by their boss that they do not want.

Premier League fans love the 'product' they enjoy from August to May , this is the price being paid for it.

Possibly, although perhaps long-term it will do them some good?  Just like Germany's 1-5 defeat to England caused them to rebuild their system.

brazil took a thumping in a freak game , no question it was pretty awful memory but in reality they made the final 4 so should be proud

knocking out very good chile , mexico and Columbian sides , when the dust settle it will be seen as a fair try

England however will be remembered like other failed side such as Italy , a side who have regressed  with no hope for the future

doomed I tell eeee , doomed Laugh
