The fans are always going to raise players to the status of demi-gods. For the manager, (non-playing) captain and whole team to do the same, building up the importance of a man who is not even going to step foot on the pitch, is a massive error.
No wonder they looked lost, they have convinced themselves he is Brazil.

Absolutely spot on.
Scolari should be ashamed of himself for these antics. The minute he was ruled out the players should have been told forget about him its about you now and who steps up to the plate to replace him. They allowed naymar to become bigger than the team and even if he had played there was only one way that was going to end. |
