You will also have to re educate the Germans and the Poles as they spell it as Kolumbien or in Polish Kolumbia.
It just seems that you and the Columbians are bothered by this. The brazilians don't seem arsed that we use a Z instead of an S in their name. |

I am Half Polish so I will continue to spell it with the (U) Kolumbia.
Hope the (K) doesn't upset you too much. |

Many countries are not spelled the same in English as in their native language so why make Columbia a special case?

Considering the English language is very much based on Latin.
The Latin word for Colombia is Columbia. I would imagine if you had an Oxford English dictionary from the past 30 years and farther back it would be Columbia. Colombia seems to be the proper form in Spanish. The word is derived from Columbus not Colombus. |
