Should have given him an international ban for two years instead
Pause Switch to Standard View So FIFA decide Liverpool can't win title

surely Liverpool won't have to pay wages for
the length of that ban, will they?
Report padlock June 26, 2014 3:41 PM BST
yes agree should been banned for 3yrs international only imo
Report ONION June 26, 2014 3:59 PM BST
I think he has got of lightly, and Liverpool he and should think themselves lucky.
Not sure Liverpool can moan about paying his wages- they knew he was a biter when they bought him and also gave him a new contract after the second bite . They knew there was a chance he could do it again.
The fact he did it while playing for Uruguay isn't relevant imho.
Report Ozymandius June 26, 2014 4:23 PM BST
I'd go far as to say Liverpool are culpable in encouraging him by refusing to discipline him properly for previous offences and  wearing embarrassing 'supportive' t-shirts.
Report Bogley1. June 26, 2014 4:24 PM BST
Liverpool weren't going to win the title anyway.
Report ONION June 26, 2014 5:19 PM BST
It would also be interesting to know how far Liverpool went in understanding and remedying his obvious mental problem. Surely it would be in their remit and responsibility to do as much as they could.
Report currant bun June 26, 2014 6:09 PM BST
no doubt the scousers will find something to moan about again ...bound to be someone else's fault
Report jed.davison June 26, 2014 8:31 PM BST
Blatters parting gift to football. What a top fellow.
Report jed.davison June 26, 2014 8:33 PM BST
Onion and ozymandius have it. Liverpool are at fault for forgiving two bites, they can hardly moan when they pay for the third.
Report iprefertolay June 27, 2014 3:18 AM BST
Once is highly questionable, twice is mind numbing and three times well insane beyond belief.
Hes a millionaire, does he care?
I would have disciplined him by making him go in the ring with Mike Tyson(in his prime eating best)
Dont think he would fancy that somehow!

yeh Fifa. Why are they punishing Liverpool for something that has not involved them when he was only banned for domestic when did the second bite.

Report Mike-lfc June 27, 2014 11:10 AM BST
I hope we sell him anyway. Has to be over 70m though.

Lot of truth in this. Look at Cantona after his kung-fu kick and his community service punishment - came back even stronger.

Anyway, Suarez was off in the summer so this has no bearing on Liverpool's chances of failing to land another title next season.

Just as a matter of interest Darlo what team do you support ?
Report Darlo Bantam June 27, 2014 11:54 AM BST
Bantam should give it away. No idea why it matters though.
Report bardo June 27, 2014 1:40 PM BST
surely liverpool can appeal this .. why should they suffer coz of what suarez does in a uruguay shirt
Report currant bun June 27, 2014 2:17 PM BST

How do Fifa have power over what club football does - isn't that the FA and the Premier League??
Report Outpost June 28, 2014 2:47 PM BST
not sure the supportive t shirts were anything to do with his biting.

weren't they supporting him when some racists crawled out from under their rocks to accuse him of racism.
Report OnePercenter June 28, 2014 4:09 PM BST
I imagine Liverpool have spent a few bob on a psychiatrist and have been advised how to manage Suarez's problems.

Out of this cocoon of support it looks like the pressure triggered his biting so the ban is a bit harsh on Liverpool.

having said that there is no way FIFA could let him off with a slap on the wrist and all this denial BS is only making the situation worse.
Report stu June 28, 2014 4:32 PM BST
what exactly is the chain of power down from Fifa to whether he plays for the club (ie where do the FA/Premier League get any say) - presumtion they don't of course!
