First of all it was never a penalty and secondly Croatias  second goal should have stood

shocking - if Brazil continue getting such scandalous 'home' decisions, may as well hand them the trophy now. The Croatian midfielder looked like he was fouled for the 3rd goal too.

referees are probably under orders from FIFA to give them decisions like tonights penalty

they cant allow the social unrest outside the stadiums to ruin the rest of the world cup which would happen if brazil didnt win... the public would turn against the tournament

FIFA have to keep the brazilian people onside that means allowing brazil to win then so be itWink

Penalty decision was correct he had his hand on his shoulder and pulled him down absolutely clear as day and the Croatian was falling all over the goalie and when the ref blew the Brazilians stopped playing so its not certain he would have scored had play carried on and even if he had scored it still would have been 3-2 so a case of SOUR GRAPES I think.Laugh

Have you ever heard that saying "cannot see the woods for the trees"? well that's anyone who thinks that was not a penalty I have seen the replay god knows how many times and he CLEARLY has his hand on the Brazilians shoulder pulling him back so he cannot reach for the ball played to him and the referee makes a great spot PENALTY

I think the ref blew for the Croatia "goal" because he thought the Croatian player impeded the goalie which on the replay did look a touch harsh but he has to make a split second decision.

Brazil could have played better particularly their defending but they got the job done.

the old brazilian teams never had to dive in the box to win matches.

Last night showed why the host nation has such and advantage in this tournament. You get the rub of the green. Brasil were the better side but they will struggle against teams with a real cutting edge if they defend like that.

I was on Brazil at evens and over 2.5 goals so benefited from the penalty but that was never a penalty.

if I was the Croatia manager, I would have taken them off the pitch before the penalty was taken, demanded to see a tv replay,  and refused to come back on until the decision was reversed...

now that would have been a scene to remember Laugh

ex fifa world cup ref Urs Meier has blasted the performance of the ref last night.

he says the japanese official made a number of wrong calls including the penalty for brazil.

"he should have booked fred for a dive instead. that would have set a good example. now the referees are off to a bad start"
