Probably 7 World Class players.... Casillas,Ramos,Pique,Xavi,Iniesta,Torres, Villa

Didnt score many goals but dominated possesion in all their games and were rarely troubled at the back.

Germany get the plaudits for scoring several breakaway goals vs Eng and Arg but when it came to the Spain game all they wanted to do was park the bus.

If Robben had kept his head when clean through late on...

If Paraguay () pen taker had kept his head....

They might have great players, but they came mighty close to getting shafted out of the competition...

Oh and they were Switzerland's only win, ffs.

Quite a few on this thread.

Spain had the best players and produced the best Football imo,let in 2 goals in the whole tournament.Scored 8 which is not a great deal but certainly created a lot of chances to have a fair few more.They had the lions share of possession and spent a lot of time attacking,i would think fair bit more than any other team.Bit of luck involved yes,but that normally is needed to win tournaments in this Sport.

Bit of luck is hardly the issue with having to save penalties against a lower ranking side to stay in the tournament. They were clinging by their fingernails and it wasn't due to luck.

Same with the Robben chance which would have killed them stone dead. Fair enough they survived that moment, but people acting as though they were so superior are talking rubbish when it was such fine margins.

Well not really much point in discussing further,we are a fair way apart in our opinions,and see no way that will change having read your last post.

Spain won the world cup. Refereeing decisions proved decisive imo in the games against Chile, Paraguay, Germany and Holland and helped them to win the world cup.

It would be interesting to see if they could have won the world cup without the officials help.

Spain still are shyte and cnuts and cheaters they should suffocate on this louzy cup in 4 years they'll go home crying finishing 4th in their group right behind Yemen and St. Kitts and Nevis!

All teams need decisions go in their favour at times,but the fact remains they were the best side at the WC and deserved to win it.

Germany were the best team. I think Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, Chile and Netherlandswere on a par with Spain.

Spain won the world cup so to that to the simpletons says they were the best team. I therefore must be wrong and accept that also Greece were were the best team in Euro 2004.

Germany outplayed by Spain,simpletons may not understand that but its fact.

The main difference between the likes of Spain and Germany, Holland etc is: Germany and Holland only try and get most of their men behind the ball when they don't have possesion. Spain get most of their men behind the ball even when they have possesion.

If they were so far better and outplayed sides why did they only keep winning by single goal margins? Surely once they went 1-0 up they should have gone on to score a few more?

If Spain was the best team why did Switzerland beat them? Switzerland must be better than Spain then. They were lucky it wasn't a knock out match. Spain are a good team, but not a great team.

They never impressed in any of their matches. They only just did enough.I would give them them 8/10, but the truly great teams like the 58 and 70 World cups teams would get 9.5/10.

The winning margins were similar to the Greek side that won the European, they either won by a single goal mostly, drew in normal time, or lost.

You have to go through the gears to win a world cup. Spain did that and got there reward. I suppose it is as simple as that.
The best teams do eventually win in the end, you just have to go through the gears to do it.

Spain attacked,Greece defended,big difference,Spain created numerous more chances than Greece did in their games but having only 1 fit striker did not help them score more,and with a defence that only conceded 2 goals in the tournament how many did they need?? Course it would be nice to score 4 goals as the Germans did,but really it just goes to show how superior Spain were as Germany did not want to attack them as they had against Argentina-why??  Cos they knew Spain were far better,and so it proved.

Spain had vast amounts of possession but most of the time were happy  to pass it around their midfield in front of the other team with only Villa in the oppo's penalty box for them

as per usual - it was the team that conceded the least goals that won the WC
