I have backed villa/spain 14/1 (disgrace of a price) and villa/holland 150/1. If villa and snedjer tie will i only get half the odds. How snedjer got the brazil goal is beyond me.

What's your question?

Also why did you take Villa/Spain at 14/1 if you thought it was a disgraceful price?

If say villa ends up with 5 and spain win will i only get 7/1. The reason i took 14/1 is because i fancied it. It was 18-20 before i done the bet but the price had come in. Should have done it earlier.

1/2 your stake not 1/2 your odds.

You'll get effective odds of 13/2

what happens if klose, villa, schneider etc all end up with 5 goals and spain win.  i cant get an answer anywhere.  also top goalscorer and golden boot are different have checked out fifa website and villa in first place above schneider at moment.  but if muller scores tomorrow, he has more assists and would be in first

i think as i have bet it to you will get the single up, as only one team can win and if there is three top goal scorers , then there is still only one winner

I 'm in the same boat. Paddy Powers have told me its 1/2 the stake. if 3 way tie its 1/3 and so on. disraceful really, because its a "special" and not a double

BBlue, whats differance between top scorer and golden boot?

fifa only has 1 golden boot! assists give the winner, i'd have thought sneijder would have more assists as Villa has 0!

den perry get real - what do you want the bookies to do if there is a 3 way tie for top scorer? Pay out at full odds on all 3 winning top scorer/tourney winner bets?

Of course dead heat rules have to apply, special bet or not.

Bing boy,at the time spain were 4/1,and villa 10/1...combined odds of 40/1. but because the bets were linked, punters not allowed to back as a double. therefore, they gave special odds of 18/1.so if villa being top scorer is only part of the bet, i don't see why the whole bet should be halved in the case of a joint top scorer occurring.eg a double on the horses, one wins at 10/1 the other dead heats at 6/1. only the 6/1 is halved

the fairest thing to do would be pay out 3/4 of the price so all would be happy

cant see why there a debate, which ever team wins the cup is one leg up, then only way can be dead heat is if two playersd from same team that win cup are joint top, so if villa is joint top and spain win cup there is only one winner,

Half your stake wins and half loses

So a tenner at 14/1 would return £150

Dead-heat means that £5 wins which returns £75 and the other £5 loses

So you get back £75 from £10 staked so effective odds of 13/2, slightly less than the half odds of 7/1

Obviously in the example I gave it's just a fiver but assuming that you bet in thousands of pounds (like me and everyone else on Betfair) the difference becomes quite significant!

The whole half stake thing is shocking! It should be half the odds!

If it was half the odds the you would get £85 return for a £10 stake at 15/1

If its half the stake you would get only £80 return for your £10!

Just another way of the bookies creaming more cash from you!

Sorry forgot to add that its not too much for a £10 stake but as said before if it was £1000 it would be a big difference!

Where the hell was 14/1, I had 25/1 Spain/Villa not long before the start of the tournement.

So for all the people's "oh there are idiots here" no one has really come on and confirmed how it will work.

I personally dont know but would assume it would be deemed on assists and who fifa call as the golden boot winner - there cant be two!?!

Confirmed what exactly?

Most bookies (incl Betfair) call their market Top Goalscorer and NOT Golden Boot so assists won't count in Top Goalscorer markets - it will be settled as a dead heat

so in a 2 runner dead heat, both runners at evens,(for the sake of arguement), the bookie should have to pay back both the stakes in full and half winnings on top? cant see it catching on myself  LaughLaugh
