Lineker played hoping for the same 1994 Sweden - Bulgaria Stoichkov (joint top) played as did Brolin (Dahlin injured in semi) 1998 Croatia - Netherlands Suker scored to take golden boot outright, both had full teams out 2002 South Korea - Turkey teams as per semi finals more or less 2006 Germany - Portugal full teams again including golden boot winner Klose and joint second Podolski in short I have no idea on what you base your assertion |

Blimey i bow to your superior knowledge.Guess its one of those things i always thought was the case,sorry if i have misled anyone.To be honest i have never paid much attention to this match.The only one i really recall was 1990 when Mcmahon played i believe,and he had the hump when Platt got picked in front of him during the tournament.

McMahon played because Gascoigne was suspended. I don't think the penalty missers were picked to start either, but that just Bobby being a bit silly

Sure they wouldn't rest Klose out of choice, but there is now a doubt whether he will play because of a back injury.

theyll both leave players out but anyone in running for top scorer wont be left out on purpose, theyll even be trying to set them up to score at every opportunity. could easily end up 3-2 and forlan or klose getting a hat trick imo
