Which firms are paying on Golden Boot? On this market if two or more are tied it goes to assists then fewest minutes played. I noticed Joke Orals is Golden Boot in the shops yet it says top scorer on their website. Can anyone please clarify the picture and does anyone know the assists record of Villa, Klose, Sneijder, Muller and Forlan (the only 5 realistic contenders)? Thanks

I've got an antepost coupon in front of me for Joke Oral. The scorers are listed under "GOLDEN BOOT", and it states that dead heat rules apply. No way would they risk upsetting customers with a 'goals assisted' rule. Where is this written/printed?

The Golden Boot is a FIFA award, and two players can tie even with assists and games played so dead heat rules would apply to that

To the bloke on the street, it's either won or tied on goals alone. I can't imagine that the bookies expect Joe Bloggs to be aware of the finer rules, and expect further him to understand that these apply to settlement of a market! Shocked

Slybet - who I have Villa & Klose with state its dead heat rules only. I would presume that would be the case with most bookies

I would imagine Sneijder has the most assists

hills are 100% on top scorer cos i remember it saying at the bottom in small print "this is NOT a bet on the golden boot winner" and thinking umm whats the difference?? now i know it seems.

had a bet with laddies and it says top goal scorer. so imo that is pretty clear its just on goals scored. for any bet to be in doubt it would shirley have to be called "golden boot winner"

skybet says the same, top scorer. i'd be amazed if any bookies actually settled it as anything other than a dead heat. to settle it on some bizarre fifa rule nobody knows about would be pretty absurd imo.

Indeed the Golden Boot and Top Goalscorer are different. The only place I've seen that even uses the words "golden boot" is Totesport and they don't say anything about dead heat rules applying. But god knows how they will actually settle the market. I've got a bet with them on Sneijder, so it will be interesting if he wins the golden boot (only one player wins the golden boot, it is not shared).

Only if Spain win

BF is clearly top goalscorer so if you had Spain&Villa and Villa tied with Sneijder then your bet would be settled as a dead heat winner (the other dead heater being Spain&Sneijder). The only issue seems to be with Gotesport and Joke Oral who both refer to Golden Boot (Joke seemingly only in his shops)

so i would get paid out at half the odds?
By:
Pythagoras
When: 08 Jul 10 17:23
Not quite; half the bet is a winner at the full odds, half a loser. Work it out and you'll see you get a bit less than a full winner at half the odds but they way it is done is fair as your bet really is half a winner and half a lsoer in this instance.

thats awful my double is 12/1, spain were 4/1 on their own so ill get less than 2/1 for villa hmm hope he nets then!

you only get half your bet winning if 2 players are level. if klose, muller and forlan go mad and 5 players finish level youd only get one fifth of your bet winning, the rest losing.

Why is sneider at3/1 on here for top goalscorer and villa evens, ????????? they both have five goals...yes villa may well be a little more likely to score but not enough to be nearly odds on.....this is a top goalscorer market and not golden boot

villa is alot more likely to score imo. but he is a poor price an thats why hes been drifting from 1.95 last night to 2.04 now.

i wonder if maybe theres an element of doubt about sneijder because 1 of his goals clearly wasnt his goal. maybe people not sure it wont be taken away right out of the blue. not very likely but maybe adding 10% to his price.

Knowing the lack of professionalism with which they are afflicted, this clearly was an issue of them not expecting to have to check that anything had changed with regards to top-goalscoring (though why should they have, to be fair?).

The fact that the market was called 'Golden Boot' rather than 'Golden Shoe' should have been a hint that dead heat rules were to apply. [;)]

Both of them paid out on dead heat rules; my bets were on Sneijder so I didn't complainGrinbut if I was on Muller I'd have argued my case for a full payout! Anyone do him with either of these outfits?

how bout this
last thurs we spotted muller had more assists and less minutes on pitch and thought 14/1 looked value for golden boot award.

my mate dave enters local bac house wrote on ticket
"world cup 2010 golden boot. muller to win the golden boot. £150 win"
at counter he asked the girl to confirm it was golden boot award NOT top scorer and called head office and confirmed this.

went to pick up today and not paying out refering him to ibas.

any opinions?

Remember Koral refunding bets on King Johns Castle in the 2010 Grand National even though it came under starter's orders? It just refused to run. Once-a-year punters expected their money back and they got it, because they don't understand.

Well the bookies would have loved to have given the full win part to Muller because they'd have saved a packet on Villa. Dead-heating on the goals was probably partly chosen because they don't want to alienate 'new' shop punters who, not knowing fully how betting works, will have expected some kind of payout if their player scored five.

It's one of those in a way. Imo.
