teams,or is it a quick watch of a couple of games, and a general they play 451 assessment.

it looked like england did no homework or tactics, they didnt improve during world cup - they were a complete shambles/3rd rate.

remeber mourinho when joined chelsea he knew the height weight appearances of all main teams players in prem i.e paul scholes 5ft 8 etc etc.

what did clemence, pearce and capello have - they are quick on break, and klose is dangerous .

for 6 million we should have videos of the opponents school matches and an analysis of every team the manager as managed(in capellos case - he plays 442 ,and cant raise a player for a big game of if hes not happy - as he cant speak.given capello, pearce and clemence are all defenders - our defensive tactics were shocking.

and capellos answer - the system dosent matter players must preform.

a bit like real madrid,- only 2 teams ever win spanish league - its like scotland - given real are the biggest spending club in world football - a blind women netball player could manage them to title.

he as shown nothing - ask players do they like him - answer ,given f.a are keeping him ,i m saying nothing as i want him to pick me as my agent as said its good for my profile to be in england squad - so yes capello is great.

his mistakes
picked 2 keepers who got relegated or nearly did
took king,barry,rooney all injured
picked an villa sub who never scores
picked crouch in front of defoe(prior to cup)yet redknapp clearly rates defoe better given spurs teams
we had a slow defender so he drags the slowest defender in prem out of retirement.
dosent look at different tactics/line ups
as squad of millionaires who have great lives holed up in isolation and gives them a dart board
left a hat trick nippy unpredictable walcott at home
has a player who as been a regular in the best club side in last 5 years ,been in 2 champions league finals, carrick couldnt hold his place down in utd team if he wasnt better than ,barry, lampard and gerrard.but never uses him.
AND THIS GEM - PUTS HESKEY ON WHEN CHASING GAME AT 3-1 ,for this reason alone he should be sacked.
as potentially one of the best 5 players in the world in team ,who is clearly not happy but ignores him in corridors, whers the heart to heart, the uplifting clear the air talks.

terry knew - its only cos gerrards agent said he would be slated in press if he got involved in a gary neville, evra type rebellion.
the main 2 players who wont be at another world cup ,i.e the main 2 who could speak up - did so terry - james, hes s hite and we are lumbered with this idiot because 12 barnet chairmens mates dont want to look like idiots for giving him 12 million.hence why they ve said change backroom staff ,in other words - we are putting our coaches in and capello must pick team.

when we finally get some penaltly takers ready - we end up with the worst manger in world football, dunga gone, maradona gone - yet this idiot stays

Who should he have picked? Almunia, Cech Van Der Saar or Reina?

yes i mean with all those trophies in redknapps cabinet, it was the obvious choice

crouch/defoe - the point is week in week out defoe crouch compete for places - redknapp and probably all spurs fans know defoe is better,we dont need to waste a world cup finding out - if you cant hold a place down for your club - you should never ever be looked at for country
Report Saluting Darren Lockyer July 4, 2010 5:14 PM BST
but yer moaning about nippy theo walcott not being in the team tho and he cant hold a place down at arsenal.
smacks of contradiction to me

Players not good enough. Can't keep the ball. There are all limited
except Rooney. Most international teams can pass them off the park. a
Algeria did that says something. You have had endless managers. Its
the players. Stop making excuses.

Give it to Harry. He'll fail big time. You cant turn bad players
into world beaters not matter who  u are. Fabio is a great manager working with clowns.

I think everyone would agree that with the squad selected for South Africa we should have done a lot better than we did.  Week in week out throughout the season we see all of these players perform at a much higher level than we did here. However the team looked tired from the outset.

The reason is the England squad went to SA earlier than most other teams in order to aclimatize and get used the the altitude.  However at altitude you cannot train as hard or as long, oherwise you end up knackering yourself.

And yet that's how we looked. knackered.

I reckon we overtrained the players at altitude when we went out there, and when they didn't perform in the first match they were trained harder to try and get them fit, but this just compounded the problem.

Anfeild's right. Algeria passed us off the park. Say no more.

can not understand why he played rooney, when he clearly was not performing and did not seem bothered.first game yes, second game maybe, third game should have been on the bench at best.makes me think that capelo was told he has to play rooney, or was bribed!

The passing was pretty bad in the Algeria game of course, but it was nowhere near as bad against Slovenia, USA or Germany.

We had one stinker of a game, and three that were far better - so why is it that the players/manager are only judged on that one game?

And if it was either the players or the manager how did those same players/manager crush other strong international sides in qualifying?
Report shrewdbury July 5, 2010 10:37 AM BST
They key question we should be asking is what went right when England played well and compare that to when it didn't.
Report MRGRUMPY1 July 5, 2010 10:58 AM BST
If they ever play well we will be able to compare.
Report shrewdbury July 5, 2010 11:05 AM BST
How many other international sides have stuffed the Croats in their own back yard?
Report morrissey July 6, 2010 5:39 AM BST
england didnt play well if you compare us to any other country... germany have played better than us in 3 games and made us look slow and pedestrian in a head to head game

argentina had more chances created in any of their games than we did in any of ours and by chances i dont mean pot shots from 30 yards

spain are the same

and are holland

im sure even shot shy portugal created more than we did..

2 goals in the group stage and one in the second round..

ppl should just stop being blinkered and realise that these players arent as good as you think  and got found out..
Report shrewdbury July 6, 2010 7:26 AM BST
So why such a big difference in the performances when we qualified, we weren't lacking pressure, shots or goals?
Report MRGRUMPY1 July 6, 2010 7:56 AM BST
Ok. Apart from Croatia it wasn't really a tough group. Maybe that's part of the problem.
Report morrissey July 6, 2010 7:57 AM BST
ask the players not me.. ask them why when they were winnign and being feted by the media, the fans and most importantly im sure.. ppl on here..  they never said boo to a goose.. and then suddenly they are abs woeful against the US and then the stories start coming out..

i suspect that most of them were from terry and his misguided supporters within the england camp as it goes but id say that we suffered from the french syndrome a little and also the dutch.. when you have massive chasms in your squad like this then it can only go one way.. weve seen it happen with other squads from other countries before and its happened to england..

biggest  prob was if rooney didnt have that magic then (as we now know) the rest werent good enough to provide it... saddens me to see so many still want the same tired old players in the team come the bulgaria friendly..  i thought more on here may have had more sense

Shrewdbury, I think you make some good points. There has clearly been some over-exaggeration about how poor the England side is. England stuffed Croatia, but then Croatia are a side that can very much blow hot and cold.

For me, the friendly against Spain illustrated well the limitations of the England side technically against the best in the world. The defeat to Germany at this WC, I thought, said a lot about the weakness of the England side in terms of getting it together tactically and thinking intelligently about the game. England were outplayed to some extent against Germany, but much of that came from being out thought, I felt.

The current England side is certainly not as bad as some would make out and had things fallen into place better the team could readily have gone much further in this WC. But in terms of competing against the very best sides in the world I think there are some significant deficiencies with England that have been amply illustrated now.

Compared to the previous over-exaggeration about how good they were.

this current team also failed to reach the last euros dont forget so please dont lets say they are being underrated now..

and then, just like now.. the sheep are blaming the manager (who was a legend three months ago for the way we qualified) rather than players who have CONSISTANTLY failed for england
Report shrewdbury July 6, 2010 10:26 AM BST
Well there's always (in any country) a natural limitation - you either have the players who are born to be star internationals or not - you can't 'train' people to become a Gazza or Ronaldo.
