But he was right, they were awful.

These anti-football teams that park the bus will make you look bad. If all 11 are behind the ball at all times and press you relentlessly in a disciplined manner then you could even be the brazil 1970 team and not look good initially. but as we saw against portugal and again last night, the anti football teams cannot keep this negative type of disciplined performance up for the full 90 mins and eventually their negative bus is towed away for the good of the game.

They got well lucky to win - Paraguay could have taken that game with their chances too.
|
|
By:
Well, not lucky as they scored, but they could certainly have lost too.
|
|
By:
shrewd not disputing that they rode their luck, but paraguay are a team that any team would be hard pressed to look good against.[;)]
|
|
By:
Sure, they're not that easy to play - but at 50/1 before KO they were hardly the toughest match up compared to the sides that Holland and Germany have just put out.
|
|
By:
yes but argentina and brazil are both attacking teams with ambition who paid the price for attacking football (particularly the argies)and would have played right into spains hands. Neither the dutch or germans would've looked any better against the paraguayans

Mark Bright, ARGH!!!!!!! God help us.
The B.B.C. is awash with our money. Maybe if they had less of our dosh, they would be more selective in who they pick. Still, we can thank our lucky stars they don't put Hansen & Crooks in the commentary box. That would be the signal for the men in white coats, sectioned & mogadons. |

topweight ,brazil an attacking team with 2 holding midfield, one of whoom gilberto can hardly move

1st time poster, i suppose bastos and maicon dont ever venture past the half way line. And having kaka robinho and fabiano is exactly the setup you want to be defensive. Listen, even attacking teams have to have defensive players for balance, but this brazil team do no park the bus.

robhino chased out of premiership, kaka dreadful for madrid and nothing in this world cup, dicky dancer alvez pratting about braying 6 or 7 over the crossbar, and fabino although 3 goals one blatant handball doing very little

topweight, i agree with everything you've said, a well organised defence is hard to break down this day and age, as far as Paraguay goes, they beat both Argentina and Brazil at home without conceding in their qualifiers. to prove just how a defensive team could score a goal, just look at the first goal Germany scored against England, goalie kicks it down the park, one bounce, in the net. any team could be lucky enough to do that. cheers.

Mark Bright is awful, but he was spot on about Spain.
Topweight is clearly clueless about football.... |
