I do. The England team outfield was 28 years plus, the Germans 25. And Rooney is overweight. Defoe said the training camp in Austria was not high enough to acclimatise for South Africa.

It must occur in every tournament though, as the stats show, this wasnt a blip, it seems to be long term. I remember noticing it 1st in 2002 when Brazil were down to 10 men in the quarter final, yet we looked done and couldnt even muster a shot on goal for the rest of the game

The lack of staying power also is a reflection of England's physical running game. Brazil; Germany; Spain; Italy; Argentina pass it about and tire less skilled teams.

for me though rather than stamina its an issue of sitting back and defending deep when we score an early goal, this has been especially noticeable in the last few years.
We have a mentality to batten down the hatches rather than play freely and finish off the game.its a major problem that we dont score enough goals compared to the other competing nations who seem to be able to win scoring 3 goals + especially in the group stages.

It depicts though the nature of Englands tactics as a whole nation not just under Capello. How many times did you see England in this world cup string a passing move together.
I'd say it was on the fingers of one hand. At one point i saw Heskeys first touch give the ball away numerous times. Gerard was similar and Lampard too. Now if you don't have the ball, one things for sure....You'll be running more than if you do have the ball. Chasing it and wasting energy.
Spain are the complete opposite. Pass the ball, tire the oppostion and wait for an opening. Patience. Brazil the same. Rarely do a team out % them on posession. They destroyed Portugal in posession stakes in the group stage.
POsession is the MOST IMPORTANT % Stat in Football imho
Zilzal, an excellent post.It depicts though the nature of Englands tactics as a whole nation not just under Capello. How many times did you see England in this world cup string a passing move together.I'd say it was on the fingers of one hand. At
It's at this point that I'd like to point out that England had the greater share of possesion(just slightly) in the game.
Posession is not so important, pace and defence are very important.
