...compared to the leagues of Holland, Spain and Germany?

And is this one of the biggest contributing factors to our decline?

The English players in the Premiership are all just runners to do the dirty work for the talented foreign players who are the focal points of the teams. It's a great blend for watching exciting domestic football but when the foreigners pack their suitcases and stick on their international shirts instead, all they leave is a clueless shell of a bunch of players without the ideas or ability to do that missing piece of the jigsaw.

im not having it. the dutch have a population less then 10% of ours and there best players dont play in the dutch league.  Why does it matter we have top class players they are just pants at playing as a team.  its got nothing to do with foriegners in the league.  The top scorer in spanish league were argentinian, top scorer in ducth top scorer is from uruguay.

id be shocked if there were any other countries that had a make up of a 23 man squad with every player playing in their countries top league.

Netherlands population - 16,783,092 (July 2010 est.)
UK population - 61,284,806 (July 2010 est.) England is obviously less that figure

It's beyond me how Mardy Bum calculated the 10 %

Quote from Platini in 2008:

'Soon in England you will have no English players, no English managers, just foreign speculators.' Most damagingly, Platini also asserts that so-called 'English superiority' is a myth when nearly all of the players in the top English teams are foreigners. 'You have to ask yourself what that means for football at a national level. England is the traditional home of football, but do you think that England will ever win the World Cup again? When you look at the statistics right now - when hardly any English players are in the final stages of the Champions League - it is a good question, and the answer is probably no. At least it will not happen under the present structures.' Although his critics could point out that there were 10 England players in the starting line-ups when Manchester United played Chelsea in May's final.

How many English players were 1st team Premiership regulars last season? I'd be surprised if many more than 50 played half the league fixtures meaning we have a very small talent pool to choose from.
