Wahooo....Another 4 years to wait til the England Hype kicks in all over again.

England can only win the WC if its held in England again, otherwise never in a million years!
|
|
By:
held in brazil, not a prayer,we will qualify but only because we will be seeded...our wc performances since 1990 are dreadfull, matter of time before we are no longer a seeded nation.

Only 4 or 5 of this squad are under 25. Most of this squad will be 33-36 by the time of the next world cup - I doubt that we will qualify.
|
|
By:
no,we are a million miles away from being anywhere near good enough
|
|
By:
england will never win the world cup again in my lifetime, unless we find some brazilians with english parents.
|
|
By:
be even worse[if thats possible] in 4 years time.

I think the standard reply is ...
... will reach the semis and then we'll kick on from there. No. |
|
By:
One semi final in 44 years, when they beat footballing giants Belgium and Camaroon to get there.
Sweden, Bulgaria, South Korea, Turkey and Croatia have similar records during that period. Even so, come the next World Cup, despite the fact that they've only ever won it at home and in black and white, bookmakers will be making England single figure third favourites as usual, and a delusional nation will 'expect' yet again... |

By:
Talk about hitting us when we're down. We'll be lucky to qualify.

England are a side in decline already. And once the current crop of England players are pensioned off we could really struggle internationally. Ferdinand - 32 in November, Lampard - just turned 32 this month, Terry - 30 in December, A.Cole - 30 in December, Gerrard - turned 30 last month, Barry - 30 next Feb.
Collectively, if all these 6 play on, we will look more and more cumbersome as a side. Given Rio's injuries and Lampard's consistent ineptitude in an England shirt for the last 6 years, it might be a blessing if both retire from int'l football. It needs an injection of youth but where are the good, young players set to come through? Dawson is 26 and maybe he needs to come into the centre of defence now. Joe Hart, 23, should be selected as goalkeeper from next game on. Adam Johnson, 22, played at left mid. Also get Walcott, 21, back in the reckoning for right mid berth. But if Capello is to continue, is he going to continue to be rigid in his tactics and formation? I would hate to see Gerrard play out the remainder of his int'l career stuck out on the left but wouldn't bet against it if Capello remains in charge. |

By:
Start from the back,Joe Hart should make the grade,Huddlestone maybe International material,Walcott has had a raw deal, and the whole country would like to know is Danny Sturridge going to be a force or just fade out.
|
|
By:
might qualify for the home internationals not sure to make the final though (nap)

how can we hope to even qualify, how many very good young players have we coming through. We need to get rid of alot of the overpaid foreigners, that are ruining our game and start to bring some british blood into the sides
|
|
By:
yes, agreed, the Premiership is killing the England int'l team and will continue to do so. Bloated, over-rated, Sky-hyped tedious sh*te essentially monopolised by 2/3 big clubs, and teams largely consisting of overseas players, owned by foreigners and coached by foreigners.

By:
We have just won the under 17 worldcup and got to the final of the under 21's. there should be some talent there

Depends on the worldwide devastation due in 2012, If south america, mainland europe and the far east are wiped off the map, they gotta be about a 33-1 shot.
|

By:
Put an all England team in your premiership and you will blood the best young English players with a mix of established English players. Then you could still have some English/international players playing for the other clubs, but the All England club could at least compete and improve, within the premiership, and help lessen the gap when these young players step onto the international stage.

By:
no chance in brazil. we need to aim for 2018. 8 years, 3 competitions to clear out and completely rebuild the england set up.
also I had to check todays date was not April 1st, Beckham to be next England manager in tonight london evening standard. |

And you thought we deserved to be 3rd favs,
CLUELESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Still getting at Gerrard i see.Yes he was rubbish,so were the rest.Should be having a go at the team not individuals, but then its clueless people like you that dont seem to grasp the fact that it is a team game!!
Watch the germans, spanish, brazilians etc, even the japs, and you will see how a team should play together. 3rd favs!! PMSL |

morrissey - your reputation as a football 'expert' has been shot down in flames on assorted threads on here. Gerrard was one of the few England players who played to a acceptable standard at this WC despite being played out of position.
