He is only 21.

Anyone who watched the European U21 Championship in 2009 will know what a good player he is.  I know Marcus Berg scored a hatful of goals but Ozil was the player who stood out in that tournament.  His stamina looks suspect (better suited to the slow pace of Int. football I reckon)as does his finishing but overall a very skilful player who can change a game in a way few players can.

dont u think , hes an even uglier version of  peter beardsly , plays such a similar style opf game.

I've been very impressed with him, more of a threat than anything we can offer in midfield.  Can see him slotting into the Arsenal side nicely.

i backed him to be player of the world cup pre tournament and am already planning what to do with the winnings he destroys england at the weekend imo

If we consider Messi to be a striker then Mesut Ozil is head and shoulders above any midfielder in this World Cup.  Not only is he brilliantly skilled he also has the heart of a lion - he was always struggling with that altitude but simply would not give in to it and we all saw the result.  He is the closest German thing I have seen to the great "Kaiser" Franz since I last saw the Kaiser in a German shirt.  Under-rate him at your peril.

Do we think England will man to man mark him, or do a zonal, Nearest picks him up?

Personally I think once he gets within the final 1/4 of the pitch he should be doubled up on!

Özil is a very good, talented, young player. He has more creativity in him than any english player. But he has not the killer instinct when he stands in front of the goalie. He needs to improve in that, than he will be a world class player. It is nonsens, to compare him with Messi. Messi, and Christiano Ronaldo too, are playing in a different league.

Excuse me Mpenza but no-one has compared him to any of the players you mention? lol.

according to some on here there are no good footballers. OP correct at least in stating he is a very dangerous player. Looking good and if gievn space could cause harm
