davids and vieira look very awkward and keegan looks bored. there's no chemistry and the whole thing looks hard work for chiles.

ITV's coverage is awful. Had to have commentary on Radio 5 Live on during the match tonight. Even Robbie Savage was better (in fact, he sounds like a genuine good laugh)

It's ironic that I first discovered Adrian Chiles years ago on Radio 5 Live. He came across as a complete ignoramus then and he hasn't changed much (I understand that he is not a nice guy to work with either).

The thing that put me off him first of all was when he was interviewing the president of the World Bank, or some similar organisation, and asked him if his job was "a bit like David Beckham's" Being American, the guy didn't know what the hell Chiles was talking about. A real cringeworthy moment!

I like sport. In fact I probably spend far too much time watching sport and I like to play a bit too. However, it was people like Chiles and the stupid "let's mix up sport and news" philosophy that Radio 5 Live invented in the 90s that has helped to dumb down news and our society in general.

It's why our politicians all claim to have supported such-and-such a team since their dad took them to a game when the were five, or whatever, even though we know that they were all the sad f**ks at university who never showed any interest in anything other than organising sit-ins, debating societies and working for college newspapers...

Britain would be a lot better without idiots like Adrian Chiles. We should deport him...

five live dumbing down, mixing sport with news, theyve now added on entertainment, gabby logan mulling over the finer points of the fiscual stimulas or the deficit reduction plan, carried by john peinar, she slags off some 5 a side footballer from leeds in a love hate kinda way, then constantly interupts everyone with a i know about this speech, thank god she slopes off alot - its torture.

and vinnie jones was right - richard bacon answers his own questions to his guests,i.e to david haye - what was it like being crowned world champion ,i bet youd never thought in your wildest dreams youd be number 1,it must of been an amazing moment, the best day of your life ,a lifelong ambition ,d haye - err yes.

its 95% bacon speaking 5 % guest - if they re lucky,he guides them down the answers hes guessed they ll give then moves on to his next question and repeats.he is irratating.

The BBC is even worse. It is like the old players' union. Hansen and Shearer are like a broken record with what they say. No real insight. Distasteful quips by Linekar. Think the ITV panel of pundits has generally been better. The only salvation is when they have the likes of Vieira on ITV giving them a semblance of intelligent opinion, and likes of Klinsmann and Seedorf.

What was wrong with Steve Ryder?  Chiles is a mess of a human being.

Anyone remember Gazza as pundit at the 2002 ITV World Cup coverage?

Presenter: "What do you know about Senegal then Gazza?"
Gazza: "Not a lot"
Presenter: "Not too familiar with their football then?"
Gazza: "No, I've never heard of Senegal"

Funnily enough, he didn't last a full week into the tournie!!

chiles has this habit of continually looking down at his notes, even though whtat he's saying doesnt require any great memory, he talks about england games as if the viewer has never watched one before, I agree steve ryder did his job fine

You guys should pop over to Ireland to watch the world cup where the analysis is second to none. You only gotta see the difference in Souness on RTE compared to his bland toe-the-line rubbish on sky. Giles is an excellent reader of the game, Brady has a wengeresque knowledge of the players and Dunphy is usually talking **** but always entertaining. I rarely ever watch any of the prematch babble on bbc, itv or sky anymore.
