no team that won the world cup ever won every game 3 or 4-0.

patience is the key. as long as we qualify top, we'll be fine. you don't want to peak too soon. that was the hardest group game done, we didn't win but we didn't lose either.

we'll go through and hopefully improve as we go forward.

just look at any Italian side that has won the world cup, they barely scrape through the group stages and get better and better as they get to the final and momentum pushes them on. hopefully that'll be us this time!

They just have to beat Algeria (odds 950) and Slovenia (odds 660) to top the group.
England are lucky they are in one of the weakest groups.  No damage done.  If they had lost to the USA then problems.

Unless of course the u.s. beats both of them, which is a real possibility.

Whereas it is true that it is not the end of the world; it is now a game of goal difference to finish top of the group. If we lose that one we would then probably meet and go out to Germany in the next round. Glad my money is not on England that is for sure.

I couldnt help wishing that Heskeys chance had fallen to Michael Owen....

Yes Owen would have put that one away, but Heskey just does not score one-on-ones (or score at all). Yes he won a lot of the balls in the air and is a good link-up player but as I have said over and over again he is just not good enough as an attacker.

Sooner or later as a forward player you are going to get a chance and it doesn't make sense to have a player in that position who is physically not able to convert. Either play Crouch from the start, who is not good enough himself really, or play Rooney further up front and sit someone like J Cole behind Rooney. Rooney sits too deep for England as was proven tonight. We want Rooney in the danger area as much as possible and that just didn't happen at all tonight.

agreed Neely, to be a good striker I always thought you needed skill, pace or both. Heskey possesses neither. Joe Cole has both

1-1 against America. How on earth will we win this cup ?

The players are just not good enough.

lampards started to play like his old man, which is kind of frightening.
