We had an excellent fred in Euro 2008 which picked out a few nice prices in these markets.

There's not much liquidity in most of these markets on Betfair but I suspect there are potentially some ricks from the fixed odd firms.

First off I'm looking at the teams unlikely to progress past the group stages and/or likely low scorers where one or two goals may be enough.

E.g. Greece may only be much of a threat from set pieces and their 6'5" first choice centre-back can be backed @ 100/1.

Will post some firm suggestions later after more research, anybody else have ideas?

Not exactly what your looking for as they are a bit short, but two of my strongest best in the World cup for me are Bob Van Persie at 13/8 and Lucas Barrios of Paraguay at 7/2, though he has came in a little.

I have also done them in a speculative double at just shy of 10/1.

Van Persie Will be the focal point of the attack for Holland, and has good goalscoring form since recovering from his injury. Should be fresh as he only came back for the last month of the season for Arsenal.

Barrios will surely start for Paraguay after scoring 3 from 3 in friendlies leading up to the World Cup.
Scored 19 goals in 33 games for Dortmund last season and has been linked with a move to Man City or AC Milan. A big price for me.

Been humming and hawing over Mark Bresciano for Australia at 12/1 but I reckon I will leave it be.

*Possibly not value alert!*

Asamoah Gyan seems to get the lion's share of Ghana's chances whenever I watch them, and he has scored 20 goals from 40 games for them (provided they haven't played since 7/6/2010).

5/2 with Billy. Can't be bothered checking every bookie.

Shame there's no bookie doing e/w doubles on these.

Plenty of 11/4 about Gyan, bit short for me.

Logically the weaker sides are more likely to provide big-priced winners as more chance of a 'random' result.

Australia look like another potential 'set-piece' team & are in a tough group. With Cahill taking out a big chunk of the market the likes of Craig Moore might be worth a poke at 50/1?

think tevez at 7/1 is a good bet considering messi's poor international record and higuan is relatively unproven at this level also been confirmed as a starter against nigeria ,if he gets a good run going i can see him being argentinas top scorer ?
