Back them or lay them. I hear so many people saying to me that they could go close with a decent enough team. Then you get people telling me that they would lay England at any price. Its so hard to know what England will turn up. They do have a top manager and a reasonable squad but they always have problems with penalties and the abusive and destructive english media on their back.
england are worthy 3 rd favs based on recent qualifying form, their manager, their full and fit squad and especially the draw
if france implode as i suspect they might with this coach and squad.. england could have a fairly easy route through to the semis
and if holland do as i suspect and knock out brazil england v holland could be one game from the final..
then the 7.5-8 on england could be looking very big indeed

the way i see it, if you are an england fan always bet against, because even if they actually win in, well you might loose money but england win the world cup! pretty good softener to your beaten bet.

no point for me.. ill be possibly laying them against brazil in the semi or holland..
maybe against france in the quarters especially if were favs but before that.. nah no point wasting my money. :)

Come on morrisey get a grip, bravo for all the patriotic stuff but if England got through to the semis with Brazil,Argentina and one other, that 7.5/8 still wont look big believe me.I cant believe that anybody thinks theres any value to be had in that price.
England MAY have an easier route but they might not.Germany are only evens to top there group so its just as likely they would play them then they would'nt.Then it could be France,Brazil and Italy or Argentina in the final.you'd get a lot bigger price backing each round individually.
You base your analisis on recent qualifying form, every teams got decent qualifying form, thay had to to get to the finals.Englands form is no better than a lot of the fancied teams.
Capello is a good manager but its his first as a international coach in a world cup so he will be tested, its a new experiance and no doubts do things differently given a second chance.
Also on another cautionary note is that England will play many games in altitude, this will surely be advantageous to teams with good technical ability who are less keen to play a high tempo game.Another nail in Englands coffin.
England dont have a full fit squad, Barry in my book could of played a very important role and theres also still a couple of friendlys to go to pick up a few more.
The fact that theres 32 teams and only 2 teams are shorter then England, the European champions,Spain and the best World cup team there ever has been,Brazil emphasizes what a ridicules price England is.

so tell me simply.. why should ANY of the other teams be shorter?
argentina? picked the wrong squad, left out very very good players, have an inept manager who nearly got them a summer on the beach. they wont get to the semis imo with him in charge
germany? always seem to perform to a reasonable standard, not won it since 1990 when they had a truly great team and players and england beat these easily last year. not to be frightened of imo
italy? no strikers to note, im not big on their midfield being creative enough and i also think that the era of great italian defenders has gone.. most seem to be aging very very quickly. do inter even have one starting italian? how many do milan have and roma? will eb strong as a team and could do damage though along the way.
france: in disarray. squad choices being mocked in france and openly by some players, an unpopular manager and some aging players. capable of better but struggled badly to qualify and arguably the irish should be there? ive alrady laid them not to qualify from their group to be honest
holland. big dangers, funny how on here ppl argue their defence is shyte yet still say teams like argentina and germany are a better bet with their defences.. superb quality all through the team and have playmakers in form in midfield.. always score goals and i have already put on record these could knock brazil out of the quarters..
im not blindly patriotic.. nowhere have i said we will win or i have backed us have i? i have backed rooney to top score at 15s ill admit..
but england have a good set of players with one genuinely world class talent who is in the form and prime of his footballing life. with a decent class of player aruond and behind him.. i agree barry has and will do a decent job for his country but MUCH better than milner or carrick or hargreaves or gerrard or huddlestone could? i dont think so really.
every player will be fit at the world cup bar barry (unless injuries happen beforehand which cuold happen to everyone) and capello wont do much wrong he has already been bending lippis ears about what to do and the best way around monthly tournament play.
like i say dont get confused about me thinking england are worthy third favs and me thinking we will WIN it..
it does? so tell me simply.. why should ANY of the other teams be shorter? argentina? picked the wrong squad, left out very very good players, have an inept manager who nearly got them a summer on the beach. they wont get to the semis imo with him in
so I think your saying England are 3rd favourites because the they have a solid team and the rest aren't good enough. In my book thats not a great reason to be arguing Englands case.
I still believe you are slightly picking and choosing your information to fit in with a slightly biased outlook reflecting Englands chances.
Their win against Germany was in 2008,and if you think these friendlies have any baring since then they have been taught a footballing lesson by Spain and Brazil. They have continually leaked in poor goals under Capello and if they continue as they have been that will result if a very rapid exit in the knockout stages.
You can pick out the pros and cons(but mostly cons) of the other nations but the biggest single factor in the previous world cup is PREVIOUS FORM IN THE COMPETITION.
You may not hold much weight in that but people can ignore that to their peril, and thats their choice of course.I for one am glad England are such a poor price as it means great value on the usual suspects.
One things for sure we will find out whos right soon enough!Bring it on!!

no the rest arent bad teams at all.. read what i said..
BUT all of them have massive flaws, most of them havent been very good, argentina who are most ppls faves here other than the top two have no chance with maradona in charge and with that squad... #
but its all about opinions men :)
