I see today that in the Rules for this market there is a notice as follows:
***ALL BETS STAND IRRESPECTIVE OF WHETHER OR NOT THE PLAYER TAKES PART***
Maybe I haven't noticed this rule before but I actually e-mailed Betfair today looking for clarification on this issue because I couldn't see anythimng in either the Market Rules or the Soccer Rules part of the site.
And now I see this rule on the Market.
IMO this is very poor form as in other markets, such as Golf and Snooker, any non-runners are settled as void as opposed to ante-post losers.
I think it would be fairer if players who don't make their country's final 23-man squad are settled as non-runners while those who do make the squad are settled as losers.
Any thoughts?

Im sure that was there in the Premiership top scorer markets.

I agree with the all in, play or not. I waited until the German manager said months ago Lukas Podolski was a starter despite being useless.

Fair enough if the caveat was always there though - I must have just missed it.
The consensus in the High Street shops is generally as follows (although there are some exceptions - I will post a detailed list later once more bookies have come back to me): 1. Bet is void if a player doesn't make the final 23-man squad. 2. Bet is a loser if player makes the squad but doesn't play. |

not true am afraid, i had £10 @ 40/1 bezema in january , no refund and theve just put up this notice all bets will stand wether player is chosen in his squad or not ?? that wasnt there monthas ago..shocking by the baldy man imo

I can tell by the overwhelming response to this thread that it is a topic close to everyone's hearts!
Firstly I apologise for the delay in getting back to this but some bookies took 5-6 days to respond with an answer! Nonetheless here is a list of rules for this market with several different high street bookies (the ones I have accounts with anyway) as follows: 1. Where a player is named in a teams 23-man squad but doesn't actually play ANY part in ANY match, then ALL bookies named above will settle the bet as a LOSER. Bet265 Boilsports Eurobet (so I presume Korals are the same) Laddies Patrick Powers Sid James Slybet Vicky Chandler Billy Hills 2. Where a player is NOT named in the final 23-man squad then the following will settle the bet as VOID Eurobet (so I presume Korals are the same) Laddies Patrick Powers Sid James Slybet 3. Where a player is NOT named in the final 23-man squad then the following bookies will settle the bet as a LOSER Bet265 Boilsports Vicky Chandler Billy Hills |
