Who wins it? Higuain or Villa are my picks.

I have literally been thinking about this market today and I am interested in people's ideas. I have just put £20 on Oscar Cardozo (Paraguay) at 140 & 130 with the view he may get a few in their group games (hoping he bags 2+ against NZ in their last group game) and then lay at around 20 going into the 1st knockout round as they will probably go out. Other good value for back to lay is Ribery @ 140 and Robinho @ 65

Diego Forlan (90s) and Miroslav Klose (30s) for me. Can see them bagging a few in their groups and expect Germany to go far as usual.

Why back Cardozo now? He'll be 240.0 by the time Italy have pulled off a clean sheet against them in their opener.

Who is to say he can't nick a goal against the Italians?

rooney is a great bet.. england have an easy enough group and then not the most difficult passage to the semis...

Stating the obvious, all teams play three games in the group stages followed by a maximum of four games in the knockout phase. Again stating the obvious, it's easier to score in the group rather than later stages. As I see it, the trick is to spot the team who will score most goals in the group stages, then limit your striker choices to that team. I reckon that Spain have by far the easiest passage through the group stage. Obviously their first choice pairing is Villa and Torres, but there has to be a doubt about Torres' participation and Villa is likely to be a prohibitive price.
So my thoughts lead me to whoever will be Spain's alternative to Torres in attack - based on recent form I'd guess at Fernando Llorente.
The only slight flaw in this otherwise perfect analysis is that he's not quoted on the Betfair market !

For the simple reason that i think he might score against the italians.

Torres for me. I think the World Cup was the shodow target when schedulng the injury treatment and I think 2 months off leading up to the World Cup would actually benefit any player given the luxury.

Don't imagine the world's best strikers will be punishing themselves on the training ground - the prescription is rest, cortizone if necessary and hitting the back of the net!

ronaldo at 19.5. will take everything for portugal. will play every minute and in a group with ivory coast and north korea. fair enough ivory coast may prove to qualify with brazil but they also could be shown to be very poor defensively. you would expect him to find the net. even the game against brazil offers a good chance to score. on top of this, ronaldo is on great scoring form at the minute in la liga and i think he was champions league top scorer (even though they went out early) until messi got 4 against arsenal. good price imo. messi, villa and rooney worthy favs tho.

Problem with this market is once a team in a slightly easier group i.e spain win there first two games they will rest one of villa or torres if not both. Which is why it's Messi for me think he'll notch 3 in the first round games and continue to score all the way to the final.
