Just been having a looking at the following...

http://www.oddschecker.com/football/internationals/world-cup/england-specials/to-make-world-cup-squad

Any potential suprises?

Carlton Cole 13/8?
Paul Robinson 9/4?
Stewart Downing 5/2?
Michael Dawson 5/1?
Bobby Zamora 10/1?
Jack Wilshere 12/1?

No price on Owen Hargreaves, unlikely to be fit admittedly, but if he did come through late, he'd be a cast imo...

Of those who are seemingly 'certs', the likes of David James, Emile Heskey and Joleon Lescott haven't done much recently for me...

Would've been nice to maybe see a market for it on here? Maybe potential for it come May?

I think the problem is 15 or so players would be sub 1.10 and a few others at sub 1.50 so hard to generate much interest .And people wouldn't fancy it too much as with most players you are basically betting on wether or not they get a bad injury in April/May . So punters would be reluctant to leave bets up on days when football is being played (which is most days) and of course players can be injured in training and soe will get that info before it is public.

A better market would be the starting 11 in the 1st match as there at least there would be some decent prices and factors other than injuries to consider.

i think carlton cole is probably behind heskey and crouch tbh for a big centre forward type...if u take into consideration that rooney and defoe, if fit are virtual certainties to go...then that would maybe leave 1 striker slot open if fabio decides to go with 5 strikers...if he did i would think that there is more chance of a agbonlahor,** zamora type player going...although i really would be surprised if it is zamora...the more i look at the possibilities of strikers, ive got a feeling that we may only go with 4 strikers anyway...although, personally, i wouldnt take crouch...

but its not my decision...

their probably will be 1 surprise that will be included somewhere, but what position and who it is are real guesswork...

gl if u get involved

Downing at 3/1 is a very big price. I make him 50/50 to be on the plane. I am a Villa fan so maybe biased, but he is playing exceptionally well, and improving with eac game.

Just discussing Downing with a mate, think he's probs the best of the 'value' prices...

Makes plenty of squads, scored a couple at weekend, so in reckoning for Egypt Game, odds should be shorter anyways...

Can't see anything wrong with betfair putting markets up. You should phone and ask them. Left sided is where there could be a surprise inclusion tho a number of people in contention. The next squad may give a few clues.

betfair had a market last time in 2006, and it generated a fair bit of interest once Rooney got injured, plus some manic late developments with walcott.

Lennon at 4/6 is value imo.

Only Adam Johnson appeals on that list at the moment...
