They looked class in Euro 2008 and then one bad performance saw them get stuffed.
A great team on their day but I'm not sure they'll be able to stay solid for a whole tournament.

they did very well to get to the quarters of the euros with that clown van basten in charge. bvm is no genius, but they have a far classier group of players than italy or germany.

robben is world class (when fit). van der vaart, sneijder and elia are very good players, and kuyt does a job. loads of talent going forward but any team with jonny heitinga at the back is going to need a bit of luck.

and if robben (big if I know) stays fit for the next six months, you will be eating your words, once him and ribery have swatted the CL field.

----------------------- of course the reasons are never apparent until much later... Sneijder and van Persie throwing their toys out of the pram over whose turn it was to take free-kicks, that after they'd already been kicking each other in training. the Dutch always seem to have problems like these and I can't see it changing before the summer. and if its not that pair it'll be someone else

thats the problem with those clowns - always something comes up - think they are a ver solid team but they have had much easier tournamets and got waxed when heat came on......
listen they were 14/1 for the last euros and now people want to bet them at what 16/1 or 20's for the world cup madness -
they need to sort their ego's out until then it is a hard road for them

they were 14s for the euros because they had a rock-hard group and the worst coach in the competition by a country mile. as it happened these 'egos' bandied together and came up with a workable system, effectively making mvb redundant. and they weren't a million miles from pulling it off. they may have come up short against a good russia side, but until that point i can guarantee anyone that had layed them at 14s was bricking it.
to call them a bunch of egos, bottle-jobs, whatever is just too easy. it's the same kind of flawed reasoning that led many to believe spain wouldn't win the euros. and who are these 'egos' anyway?

Don't see how Euro 2008 is a reason for not backing them, one poor performance , against a Russian team that played the game of their lives, and if they'd had Germany's Draw they would likley had made the final.
They should be shorter than Italy and Germany. Don't see how Euro 2008 is a reason for not backing them, one poor performance , against a Russian team that played the game of their lives, and if they'd had Germany's Draw they would likley had made th
It's too easy to say "they always bottle it" or indeed (for Germany/Italy) to say "they'll always be there or thereabouts" - it's not the same "they", is it?
No-one new would ever win trophies if they were all trapped in the shadow of their past.
For me Holland are one of the three or four best sides in the world at present and as such are a must back at the price.

if people knocking holland used the same logic on england, england would be 50's. rather have holland @ 17's than england at whatever they have now come into.

Laid off a bit too much, plus backed a few others along the way (including Spain, mercifully). But still a pleasing result, and would still have them at the current prices - think they should be more like 2.3.

Think laying a bit too much will turn out to be a good thing.Cannot see them beating Spain on anything i have seen last few games,Spain look different class to me.
