The loss of dignity from the Irish was bigger than the "injustice" they suffered.
Congrats' to the Irish, you've officially replaced the scousers as self pity world champions. |
By:
Did you not see the handball Toop Toop ?
By:
Of course I saw it and it was unfair like many other instances in football. The subsequent epic whinge-a-thon that followed became (in my view) an embarrassment to the Irish within 24hours.
At least Roy Keane showed some perspective on the matter. |
By:
ii can only imagine the British media if england lost their place to such an injustice, the first ten pages of every paper were taken up about them beating Croatia and qualifying.
By:
considering the irish blew up airey neave you dont get the neave family bleating on about how badly done to they were , they should take note and move on although bearing in mind they still harp on about some king orange [ not a lollipop evidently] i doubt that they will.

The loss of dignity from the Irish was bigger than the "injustice" they suffered. Yes. I wanted Ireland to get through while i was watching it , thought they deserved to , gutted for them with the handball and understand why they were seething. Calling for a replay was ridiculous though , no hope of getting one so just pathetic begging, when that was turned down i didn't here anymore about it and thought they'd come to their senses .Now they want to be 'Team 33' :^0 . Now when i see replays of the goal i find it amusing. |
By:
lets be honest - they can bear a grudge can't they?
By:
Rumour has it that the FAI have sent Mrs Doyle in to agrue the case for inclusion in the World Cup....
" Mr Blatter, Will you not let the Irish team play football?" "No, Mrs Doyle" " Ah, Go an!" "No, Mrs Doyle" " Go an, go an, go an,go an,go an,go an,go an,go an,go an,go an,go an,go an, GO AN!!!!!" etc |
By:
i recall that it took the english almost 7 years to recover from the trauma of maradona's hand of god.... and what a laugh we had at your expense.. oh no sorry im wrong , your still getting over it !!
.......and by the way hurst never scored that goal in 66 either, coz it never crossed the line..........and you didnt beat the germans in the war either.. coz the yanks did it all for you..... 2 world wars and 1 world cup to the land of crisps and lager !! |
By:
Which handball? What happened?
By:
England still go on about the hand of god. Same thing. It will never go away.
By:
The hand of god was in the quarter final of the world cup. Ireland were not even winning the tie and probably were going to pens at best. Totally different circumstances.
By:
think the irish are the world champions at not stopping bleating about injustice ,
1, cromwell 2, famine 3, Gibraltar 4, Loughgall 5, henrys handball |
By:
i think ireland should not take no for an answer and pick a squad and travel privately to South Africa and keep appealing until let in
By:
Anyone know which group Ireland were drawn in last night?:D
By:
Wonder if the Real IRA do a jon on Henry
By:
Nah, it would be more their style to do his wife and kids....
By:
get over it......and stop stealing our players after weve developed them.
By:
Given that we've bleated about Maradona for 20 years, I don't think we can really complain when the Irish have a moan. Asking for a replay and/or a 33rd place is ridiculous though. They'd be better off boycotting all brands that have marketing deals with Henry.
By:
u summed it up H/M ithink theyt have every right to feel **edabout the handball and i agree if it was us english we would boo henry at every chance and moan like fekk, the problem is asking for a replay wasdaft and expecting to be the 33rd was just a total embarrassment to a proud nation. most irishmen are probably cringing at the few asking for these daft resolutions to their plight.

Richard Dunne
"It doesn't affect me one little bit what Fifa will do with Thierry Henry," he said. "Whether he plays in the World Cup or not, I won't be. Whatever Fifa do will probably be wrong anyway. "From the moment the rules were changed for the play-offs, when the seedings were brought in, it was decided they wanted France through. "It's always the same way Fifa think about Irish football. Unless you are a massive country or have massive sponsorship you're not going to be welcome. "What's this award that Fifa are going to give to Ireland? It is FIFA taking the mickey - give the Irish a plaque instead of going to the World Cup. It's a sop. "They can keep it. I would be very surprised if Robbie Keane, our captain, was going over to collect it." Get the message ffs. Nobody wants a tub of lard like yourself on the world stage. |
By:
Or corrupt Italians
By:
Tub of Lard Dunne maybe , but he won't dive or fake an injury to get a player sent off or booked. He has limited ability but always gives 100% whether he is good enough or not. He has half the natural ability of Ferdinand but i know which one i would pick, and its not Ferdinand. Thats Rio not Anton.
By:
"Paddy Hair 08 Dec 04:06
Tub of Lard Dunne maybe , but he won't " How deluded can you get - they all ** ffs!!! |
By:
If it happend to the ENGLISH they would have been kicking screaming and shouting about it like know one could imagine it would have been the biggest travisty ever in world football of that i have know doubt.
By:
Rubbish^^

Did England ask fifa for a replay when Sol's perfectly good goal was disallowed?
England have suffered outrageous bad luck with good goals being disallowed in recent competitions but we never once asked fifa for a replay. Ok we went on about the hand of god but again we never asked for a replay or for some action to be taken against Maradonna. The Irish have replaced scousers as the self-pity world champions. |
By:
Scousers have a relatively high concentraion of irish blood in them so no wonder theres a correlation twixt the two
By:
The Yanks won World War II lol. Never heard so much rubbish. I think you'll find if you want to attribute WWII to any single nation it is the Russians.
