I remember Tourino 06 when all this Golden generation of Slovakia was driving over everyone when it really did not matter. They finished Group stage as a strong favorite but got knocked out by yanks.

To me it seems that lesson is learned and they are in semis and no doubt they have weapons to win tonight. cos that is just one game. IN series they would not have a chance but this is all different.

going to be very difficult to prevent Canada scoring at least one in each period , even when they're not flowing there's goalscoring potential everywhere , still fancy Heatley to get at least one , if Canada can almost wrap this up though can see Babcock being conservative with the lines later on with the final on Sunday evening.

Really need the Slovaks to grab the next goal try and keep my overs alive. Canada get it and it's pretty much dead. However the Slovaks really dont look like they have any in them at all.

thanks for the updades guys so it was close in the end they only just held on.

Must admit I was one of the big backers of Canada only reason being was because of the tact it's the last event staged so they must know they're getting gold or someones going have egg all over their face.

Just finished watching the 3rd period recording and what a great finish , brilliant stuff from Slovakia and that was always the possible danger trying to change flow and see the game out with Sunday in mind.
Hopefully a few more will look at the NHL a bit more closely after the Olympics and any converts are welcome on the NHL thread on the North American forum and this game yet another reminder it's one of the deadliest sports for lumping on shorties with the capacity to change so quickly , all the evidence is contained in the NHL thread throughout the season.

nikita , unlucky there mate and a great call , noticed you were shouting up Slovakia on a few threads recently and what a great run for your money for a big outsider.

Good luck to all Sunday night when I expect to see Canada play near their best for the majority of the 60 mins and that should be enough for Gold.

and for Gold I do think about USA , really do ...

not surpirsed about the odds at Slovakian bookies the whole country must be backing them.
I also agree about the USA even if I do support Canada, hope the bronze comes home for you, Slovakia deserve it
